The current drought of new releases is making Yahtzee review some older
games. His take on Oblivion is still very entertaining.

Better not look at his other reviews, then, as he gives the same
treatment to almost EVERY game. I guarantee if he reviewed any game
you like he would skewer it at least as much as he did Oblivion.
Possibly even more as in general he doesn't like RPGs.

It's a new review, just posted yesterday. Nothing against your opinion
about the game, but it seems to me like Oblivion fans would actually get a
bigger laugh out of the video than the critics would.

Apropos of nothing, I hate that Adobe Flash is the default mechanism for
distributing video content online. Don't run code on my machine without
telling me please, just let me view the thing. Or at least, don't hide the
FLV file someplace I can't browse to it directly. Smile

No, I doubt the real TES fan(atic)s would.

It's funny because I/we(?) see all the real elements of truth in his
sick, twisted humour. I know I for one have experienced all the flaws he
hammers home firsthand, but thankfully the scales fell from my eyes long

I did too great review and sums up the game brilliantly. I never played the
game much more than for about 10 hours worth and it really started boring me
after that. Its got some good bits but its just so immersionless. I felt the
same about Morrowind and have decided I just hate RPG games. Same hate
almost I have in fact also for the 'X' space games, MS Flightsim games, The
Totalwar games, and any other games that has turning into a pointless
repetitive series except for the FIFA games they are still worth getting
from time to time.

I know I did. It helps that everything he said is pretty much true,
and it doesn't surprise me a bit that he liked Morrowind, because
almost everything he complained about was a new addition in Oblivion.

I forgot about his Witcher review though I don't consider it any less
savage.

That review has one of my all-time favorite lines, too. "...so that
those dirty, console-playing peasants don't ruin it for the glorious,
PC master race." Yeah! That ought to be the motto of our
newsgroup!! We could go over and taunt the guys in
microsoft.public.xbox and stuff. Wink

I hate that too, but I hate Flash so much I don't even have it installed
on my machine. Actually, I don't mind not being able watch Flash videos
so much as the video quality is usually pretty terrible.

Have a look at his Painkiller review (though not an rpg obviously) -
golden! And he wasn't nearly as savage on The Witcher, though he
correctly identified it as a single-player 'mmorpugger', elements of it
which my mildly OCD personality actually enjoys Smile

Hmm, this sounds worth looking at, but are there spoilers?

Must admit I have not got around to Oblivion yet - actually I'm still
only half-way through Morrowind. ;D

No real spoilers. The only story elements he comments on occur at the very
beginning of the game and can't be changed or avoided by the player anyways.

There are spoilers, but only if you haven't played the first 10-20
minutes of Oblivion yet.

His complaints: Everywhere looks much like everywhere else, the fast
travel (from anywhere to anywhere instantly) makes the size of the map
irrelevant, the NPC's voices are badly done and repetitive, the use of
full voice means much less actual plot and story, annoying minigames
for some skills(unskippable for speechcraft), and many others I can't
remember off the top of my head.
