Since alignment rating is "just noise", why not not count against the
alignment of chaotics when the bloodthirsty blade attacks? (They still
get the benefit for killing hostile monsters, they're just not dinged
for slaughtering the innocent.)

I was hanging out with the cool kids in rec.games.roguelike.nethack when

If you kill it while it's still peaceful - that is, on the first hit,
when you get the "bloodthirsty blade" message - you get an alignment
penalty anyway. I once had my alignment affected enough to get blasted
by Stormy after I cleared up a swarm of gremlins on the Wizard's portal
level.

I doubt it. The "killed when still peaceful" effect is extremely hard to
get. Generally the first hit angers the monster.

Barbarian Alignment...Chaotic? - The Cleaver is usually pretty important when playing as a barbarian. Some might even say crucial. The Cleaver is neutral aligned. So is there a good reason to be chaotic aligned instead of neutral, when playing as a barbarian?

alignment troubles... confirm my fears? - So i had a very promising game with the priest going. Good stuff. Traveling down deeper into the dungeon, i encounter a succubus who rudely removes all my clothes. After the encounter, while dressing, i accidentally put on a helm of opposite alignment....

(numerical) alignment and sacrificing for artifacts - Are the following two statements true? Attacking a peaceful creature, regardless of chaotic/neutral/lawful, results in a decrease in alignment. Killing a previously peaceful creature, regardless of chaotic/neutral/lawful, results in a great decrease in..

I see a YANI - When one throws a potion of see invisible at a stalker or any invisible monster, the monster should become visible.
