Any reference to be able to decipher that?

As originally stated, "disease" has been under discussion for more than
a couple months now. I've always intended to put it into Spork.

Sour grapes?

Playful teasing of one who perhaps is taking life a bit seriously? See
'Sesame Street', 'Bert and Ernie' for examples.

Oh, really? Where was the indicator, pray tell, that I _shouldn't_ have
taken him seriously given all his prior angry posts on the subject?

I see no Smile ...
I see no <g>, <grin>, or anything like that...
....and he went out of his way to add the "obnoxious" remark. Classy.

Sorry, I don't buy it. That was sour grapes, pure and simple.

As far as taking "life" seriously... Please. If you really believe you
know ANYTHING about me personally or how I approach life based on what
I post to RGRN, you are overdue for a major assumption check.

Here's a hint: It's just USENET.

Grrr.

Mark this well.

This is Derek Ray once again in classic bully mode.

Derek's orders weren't obeyed?

He is intellectually INCAPABLE of understanding the
social implications of this.

Instead, he just emits the orders again, and will
continue to do so over and over and over until he
gets his way.

That is behavior entirely typical of autistic
children and born brats.

He is INCAPABLE of understanding that he doesn't run
this newsgroup or even any single discussion thread.

Being called constantly by me on this entirely
unacceptable rgrn bully behavior of his is why he
put me in his kill-file. This cowardly behavior, the
usual rarely well hidden other side of being a
bully, doesn't make him any better a human being.

It isn't that he hides from criticism because he
_knows_ that he is right, but because he can't take
being found wrong. This hiding from criticisim and
bullying through criticism just identifies him as a
person whose character flaws make him INACAPABLE of
learning from criticism.

Meanwhile, this whole "disease" mess is yet another
extremely unpleasant potential addition to
Sporkhack, on the order of the ones making
intrinsics no longer something one can gain and go
on, but only probabilistically effective.

Breaking existing features doesn't, to me,
constitute improving the game, though it certainly
does make it harder.

I don't play a game of NetHack, or any other D&D
derived game, with the happy expectation that my
character can spend most of the play period sick and
decaying. At my age that's the living reality I'm
trying to escape.

I play so that my character can grow, strengthen,
and thrive, all things Derek's weak pretense of
design skills are working so very hard to counter in
vanilla NetHack.

xanthian.

And don't bother asking "but have you _played_
Sporkhack?"

Catering to bullies isn't in my nature, nor do I
play on servers, nor, any more, do I play to compete
with others, but purely to wrestle with my own
playing flaws, I don't need or want Sporkhack, but I
reserve the right to poke it with a sharp stick to
watch it squirm away from the light.

Notice the continuing bully-Derek mode of "running
roughshod over any criticism" in the remainder of
this, as well. This is not the behavior of a well
human being.

No Derek, he's calling to others attention your irrational
and unacceptable behavior, as usual, as has been done by
many before and will be done by many since. Too bad your
broken personality leaves you incapable of getting the
message of how your behavior looks to the world.

I don't have to convince you; I only have to say it once. If you don't
believe me, well, that's no skin off my ass. You didn't really get the
hint, so let me try it a bit more bluntly:

I only read RGRN for two reasons, and neither of them is "make friends".

If you can't understand it from that, it isn't worth discussing; you
probably aren't the type of person who could ever understand it in the
first place. If you can understand that the previous sentence isn't an
insult, then you're starting to get the picture.

Hmm.. - I suppose it would be the orcs, dwarfs, and other inhabitants of
the dungeon that contribute to any contamination? Generally I'd rather
expect water drawn from a source within the earth to be more pure than
contaminated. Don't you think so?

Ok, let's try again, then:

Take heed, rgrn: This is how you can manipulate Derek to put something
into Spork. Just get him into obnoxious mode and criticize an idea.
<rolls eyes>

I got annoyed when you went all schoolteacher on me, and that was the
extent of my "anger".

(and Janis, I just added some more incomprehensible letters to Derek's
snobbish [tl;dr] snip. Using consonants in brackets in what is
presumably some obscure usenetism is something else I <rolls eyes> at.)

Well, you needed to be schooled. Using arguments from ignorance ("I
don't see what fun this would be") that are based on a vague subjective
concept ("fun") to support your complaints certainly doesn't strike me
as productive, for sure.

If any worthwhile discussion was to be had, we were going to have to get
you to say something concrete. Which you did eventually, and then you
went on and got all sour-grapes about it when I pointed out that you
were actually supporting _my_ position with your statements.
