Had my first Avatar of Balance win yesterday with a human necromancer.
It was a pretty by-the-numbers game with three exceptions:
* My first kill was a goblin, apparently. Filk was on level 177 of the
ID.
* Gorgon corpses *DO* grant the +petri intrinsic. You need to be
wearing an amulet of petrification resistance while eating the corpse.
* Magical writing sets disappear no matter how many charges are left
if your mana is at 1. The Trident of the Red Rooster which gives +24
to mana had no effect. You can get around the problem with potions of
boost mana, though, at least until the boost wears off.
