For nearly a month now, Xbots have been having problems with the
flawed, buggy, POS, non-free online service known as Xbox Live. In
fact, Xbox Live has been down so much that it has officially been
renamed Xbox Dead. It's very hard to justify paying $350 or more for a
buggy POS console, then paying $100 more for a WiFi adapter, finally
flushing $9 per month just so you can go online to Xbox Dead that
doesn't even work.
All over the internets Xbots are fuming and outraged that Micro$uck
has screwed them over once again. Class action lawsuits are being
filed all over the country, but not all over the world since nobody in
Japan or Europe even owns an Xbox 360. Looks like another $2 billion
dollar write-off for Micro$oft. Until then Xbots are howling in pain,
praying for the day that Bill Gates decides to spend less money
bribing studios to support a dying HD-DVD format and more money on
Xbox Dead infrastructure.
Meanwhile the PS3 PlayStation Network (PSN) is going strong and
gaining momentum every day. Unlike Xbox Dead, PSN is 100% free. In
addition PSN is an open network, meaning that people can create their
own content in games such as Unreal Tournament 3. Just try to do that
on an Xbox 360... you can't because Xbox Dead is a closed Micro$oft-
only network without any freedom of access. With Home just around the
corner, PSN stands to leave Xbox Dead in the ashes of console history.
PSN is superior to Xbox Dead in every single way.
Remember Xbots, while you are cursing because you can't play Xbox Dead
today, PS3 owners all over the world are logging onto PSN and having a
great, bug-free, fun experience. Sucks to be an Xbot these days. >> Stay informed about: Xbox Live Officially Renamed "Xbox Dead" |

I completely agree with you. I wouldn't pay even $100 for a buggy POS
console. I did pay $400 for my fully functional and 100% reliable Xbox
360, however.
I certainly wouldn't pay $9 per month to play on anything called
"Dead" but luckily I'm good to go with my $4.46 (after tax) per month
Xbox Live service that has been running just fine for me (although I
admittedly haven't been playing all that much online these past couple
of weeks).
And I definitely wouldn't pay $100 for a WiFi adapter. In fact, I,
like most people, wouldn't buy a WiFi adapter at all. Why degrade your
access speed using WiFi?

The internets? How many of these do you believe there are?

LOL
I love how you espouse the advantage presented by only one game right
now. Golden stuff.

LOL
Home will actually drive people away from using the Playstation
Network. Only basement-dwelling nerds will want to spend time showing
off their virtual (i.e. fake) apartments to their virtual (i.e. fake)
friends.

Are you new to here? You are unfamiliar with the posting patterns of
jimmylab? If you do, you have your own answer. Of course, your
question could be the true mystery regarding jimmylab. What exactly
is jimmylab? Maybe jimmylab is a PC gamer upset that PCs aren't all
that for gaming any longer.

I have been doing Home for awhile, for FREE. It is called Second
Life. No load time between areas, unless you teleport. Pretty good
if you want to get some cybersex action also, which Home Home won't
have. Well, maybe you can do some dopey dances and pretend it is
cybersex.
By the way, please tell the world where you can get UT3 new content?
The game hasn't sold well, and do you have any word when they will
bother to get around to having it so UT3 mods will be compiled to work
on the PS3?

That's what happens when 10 million paying subscribers go online at
the same time.

WiFi is not needed and it's slow, why bother? The monthly fee isn't
$9, it's $7.50. If you pre-pay a year it comes out to be $4.16 per
month.

One case in Texas doesn't constitute "all over the country".

How's that working out for you so far? You get your mod cooker yet?

Bzzt! Incorrect!
http://kotaku.com/341399/xbox-live-10-million-gold-subscribers
"In addition to trumpeting their Disney/ABC deal, Microsoft have also
announced that there are now ten million paying subscribers signed up
to their Xbox Live service. A big number, then, but with 17.7 million
consoles sold worldwide (and no numbers on the number of Silver
subscribers) there's potentially a lot of people out there in need of
some convincing as to the merits of a paid online gaming service."

MS Boasts of 10 million live 'subscribers' - probably 70% Silver
accounts, but clearly their infrastructure cannot cope with this
number of people online.
Sadly they didnt upgrade their routers, servers, and general pipes in
time and have floundered as a result.
Not only is this unacceptable, it costs a good number of them money to
use - and for the rest, is a serious inconvenience as it nterrups
simple things like accessing their xbox arcade games.
It is also from the worlds largest IT company, with the largest
resources of any company .
All the typical XBOT does is pretend it's not a problem, and continue
to insist that Live is a superior service.
If MS doesnt sort it out, they will see renewals of Gold fall and
people just wont bother.
Even though you are a troll, I have to agree with you on this. MS should
have and should be expected to do better. The Live service when UP is by far
the superior on-line service.

My connection is upstairs in my office. I run a 50-foot cable
downstairs to the living room. Nobody in an apartment will have to go
to those lengths. Nobody who has a game console set up in their room
will have to go to those lengths.
In any case, I don't include anybody on this newsgroup, or any video
game newsgroup for that matter, in "average consumers." By virtue of
us being here discussing on Usenet, we are not average consumers. By
virtue of us knowing what the hell we're talking about with
technology, we're not average consumers.
Very few people, relatively speaking, are going to have a wireless
network set up in their home.

Yet Second Life is exactly what Home is modeled after. The concepts
are exactly the same... only Home is much more limited than Second
Life in terms of infrastructure.
The Second Life world is MUCH bigger than Home. Home is just a
collection of people's fake apartments and some community spots where
you can hang out to do in a much more drawn out fashion things you
currently only need to scroll through a menu to do. >> Stay informed about: Xbox Live Officially Renamed "Xbox Dead" |
