Pssst, a little open source hacker I know has framed out a Xbox360
emulator for the PS3.
There are still plenty of bugs as the Cell/BE is freakin monster to
tame.
He says there is so much CPU in the PS3, a simple PC core like the
360
is just a matter of throttling it back in the right places.
He joked that he can't make the PS3 melt down into the Red Ring-o-
death like the flaky Xbox360.
His goal...to have this little program up and running when Halo3
launches so he can drop in and say hi to a few Xbox360 gamers on
their
own turf.
Ultimately, he wants hordes of PS3 gamers to crash the Halo3 circle
jerk.

Complete BS. Why are PS3 games running slower than a 360 then?
Emulation takes much faster technology to achieve.

While the BS call you make is spot on, your reasoning is pretty stupid. Why
are PS3 games running slower? Uhhh, maybe because it is newer technology
and developers are not as familiar with it? Maybe because the 360 is a lot
easier to program for.

Exactly. Even the Xbox thing would be a bit of a stretch for me. I am
thinking at least 2 generations separation for it to sound reasonable. >> Stay informed about: Xbox Emulator on the Powerful PS3 |

The PS3 can't even handle the games the 360 gets when they are ported over
and now, supposedly, an emulator will run 360 games on the less powerful
PS3. Honestly, you need a swift martial arts kick to the head. >> Stay informed about: Xbox Emulator on the Powerful PS3 |

According to Blig, the PS3 is WAYYY too powerful to emulate a mere
360. The PS3 is so powerful that it functions in 20 different
dimensions at once, drawing power from black matter and cold fusion.
In fact, the PS3 is the only known object in our universe with enough
power to escape the event horizon of a black hole. Attempting to run
such inferior software on in could well put a tear in the fabric of
time and space.

Both comments are true. It's also true that the current set of
programming libraries (i.e. code libraries to make calls to the
graphics hardware), given to third-parties have been called "about
equal" to the the XBox 360 by third-party programmers. If there is
more power under the PS3's hood to be tapped, Sony hasn't given third-
party developers the keys yet. And the nVidia chip responsible for the
systems graphics is easy enough to evaluate and, if you're curious
it's about on par with what the 360 can do, probably a tad less
capable because it doesn't have as much texture memory. >> Stay informed about: Xbox Emulator on the Powerful PS3 |
