Not sure how accurate their data is, but this would mean the 360 sold
around 1.5 million in December from 12/01 to 12/25. The month of
November 360 sales have already been reported and that was 511,000 for
November. No bad, although might not be quite enough to hit the 10
million unit goal for 2006.

http://www.reghardware.co.uk/2007/01/02/us_console_sales_npd/

Same story.

Wii outsold the PS3 more than 2.1 in he same period, while the 360 is
closer to 2.4 to one, with around 1.5 million of those being sold in
December alone (and the PS3 selling around 1/3rd as many).

Comparatively speaking, the 360 beat PS3 by 150k in north America at
the same point in it's life in 2005,

Unlike the 360 launch, reports on here and around the Usenet suggest
that while the Wii was scarce, the PS3 has been in relatively
plentiful and regular supply - so if only 500k sold in N.A. in
December, this suggests that Sony has a problem with demand. Not
surprising given the price and lack of top quality AAA exclusive games!

So, Blig Merk can rest assured that NONE of his predictions of doom for
the 360 proved accurate.

I would like to know how many the PS2 sold - is it still outselling the
next-gen consoles, or have we finally put rest to that?

Don't forget Europe and Asia. Even if it sells 1/3rd as many here,
that's easily going to push it over 10 million worldwide.

That's true, I forgot what was being reported in the article was only
US sales.

VGCharts.org have some pretty mad figures for the Wii, and very low
ones for the 360 - but nexgenwars have the opposite.

I guess the 360 sold close to or very much spot on 10mil now, and the
PS3 must be about 1.2-1.3 million, witht he Wii around 3-3.5 million.

Lets not forget that NPD does not include Walmart, smaller stores
(Microcenter??), and many online stores. So the number could be much
higher. Does NPD include Canada or just U$? I think 360 had big sales
in canada.

MS can really be the only one to say whether they will (have) hit 10 million
sold for the ending of 2006. Since Wal-Mart and a few others are not
included in NPD's numbers. If this turns out to be true, this is big news,
since the 360 did much less than predicted for November. But, if the PS3's
number from it release to end of year are true, it outsold the 360 by a good
margin.

Now that being said, during that relative period, the 360 wasn't seen on
shelves from its initial release up until spring time. Now, though I have
seen (for the first time) a PS3 in stock, I am wondering what this means.
The PS3 I saw was a 20 gig system, but at a store where they still cannot
keep 360 premiums in stock during the holidays up until recently recently,
and definitely no Wiis. From just before Thanksgiving, up until last week
when I went there, no sign of a 360 Premium, or a Wii, but 1 PS3 has been
there for more than a week.

Fingers broken?

Market analysts NPD have suggested that the Xbox 360 was the best-selling
console in the US over Christmas - with the Nintendo Wii trailing by just
200,000 units.

According to the firm's preliminary estimates, as reported by CNBC,
around 2 million Xbox 360 units were sold in North America from November
up until December 25.

The figure for Nintendo Wii stood at 1.8 million units - despite the fact
the console only launched in North America on November 19, and the first
batch of stock sold out within hours.

Stock shortages were an even bigger problem for Sony. Around 750,000
PlayStation 3 units were sold during the same period.

NPD is expected to release complete figures later this month.
