With GTA:SA I waited about 18 months between its PS2 release and getting my
PC copy - it took that long before cheap PCs were sufficiently powerful to
perform better than the console.

The nice thing about being an old git is I don't feel inadequate if I'm not
on the bleeding edge of technology. By the time I get my games, they're
cheap and the bugs have been discovered and fixed or documented.

Seems like the biggest bullshit threads always happen when some wanker
cross-posts AGGTA with 6 other newsgroups (guessing you're talking about the
PS3 thread by Simon Poyne). Apparently these people think that what they
have to say is so important that they're gonna tell the whole world.

And fully agreed. The console vs. console, or PC vs. console is the most
idiotic thing in the world to debate. The personal choice of individuals is
just that, a personal choice.

And as far as facts go Bob, i was a loooong time PC gamer until this year.
GTA4 finally made me pry my wallet open and join the console crowd. Looks
like i'm going to get my $$ worth. All the amazing little details and/or
changes everywhere in the game are cool surprises as they occur. I'm glad i
didn't wait for the PC release like i had to do for the last 3 GTA titles.

The car physics and targeting/crouch system alone are top notch. I could
gush on and on, but it's just echoing what everyone else has already stated.
Even watching TV in Niko's apartment is hilarious. The Republican Rangers
cartoon would do very well on Comedy Central !

And don't worry G Hardy, to borrow a term from Grandma's Boy, you're not the
only Greybush here. But in this case, the little voice in my head that
whispers "you have to have it" won for a change. Had to have it !

I managed to avoid sneaking into the kids' room to play GTA:SA on a PS2
until a) the PC version came out and b) I had a machine that could do it
justice, so I'll probably manage to wait for this one too. )

Incidentally, with the 360 simul-release it must be easier to identify what
specification PC would be needed to equal or better the console version...
or is it?
