I'd have thought it was probably a little late in the console's life span to
switch media now. If cost wasn't a big issue (i.e. MS release external BR
drives for about £35) then I could see it happening. AS it is. *If* an
external drive was released it's probably cost in excess of £100. I think a
more likely case will be that we start seeing more games released on
multiple DVDs like Lost Odyssey was. Then BR being used for the next
generation of MS console.
BTW does anyone know when we are expecting the next gen to come on the
market? >> Stay informed about: Xbox 360 Blu-ray console shipping Q3. |

Surly to god if they start producing games that are BR only for the 360 MS
will also release an external BR drive. Still not a great option seeing as
the 360 only has one rear USB connection so people who already use the rear
one (wireless dongle mainly I'd have thought) are goign to have a wireless.
Anyway to get back to my point. Assuming the rumor is true, if the only way
to get a BR drive for the 360 is to get a new console then I can't see game
developers supporting the format as it will vastly limit the size of the
their customer base. >> Stay informed about: Xbox 360 Blu-ray console shipping Q3. |

I'm looking forward to it. A lot of graphics on this gen are starting to
show their age. Just been playing Dark Messiah (Not even a new game) on the
PC not played it since before I got my 360 and PS3 and the texture
resolution is really jumping out at me. Of course bearing in mind tat my PC
is worth more than both of my consoles put together I probably shouldn't
complain. Pity there are sod all decent new releases for the PC at the
moment. I'm just babbling now. >> Stay informed about: Xbox 360 Blu-ray console shipping Q3. |

Yeah I finished Dark Messiah awhile ago on the 360. I thought Oblivion
looked better though.
Even when playing Bioshock if you look closely the graphics aren't
great, but the way they did the art direction 'fooled' your eyes so to
speak. I think it also had to do with the developers talent level, but
all the same ,I'm ready for next-gen consoles.
People tend to forget the 360 came out in 2005 at a time when HDMI
/HDTV wasn't even a blip on people's radar screens. Now I'm
babblin..what's the topic again.. >> Stay informed about: Xbox 360 Blu-ray console shipping Q3. |

Any idea what the differences between the 360 versions and the PC one are.
I've heard that the 360 version was very cut down.

I think character models and individual rooms look better in DM, but DM
isn't doing anything close to the scale or variety of stuff that Oblivion is
doing.

Confirmed by 2K :Bioshock 2 is being worked on by 2K Marin ,(recent
rumors had Ken Levine OFF the Bio2 sequel)but Ken Levine will be on as
more of an advisory position according to 2K. I was a little worried
that 2k Boston (the team responsible for Bioshock) had the reigns of
Bioshock 2 handed over to 2k Marin, but since 2k confirmed Ken Levine
will be on as an advisor, that should calm the worries that the
sequel/prequel will still have the Bioshock vibe/gameplay.
Even bigger news to 'X-COM' fans-

I hope they make a good go of it. The thing about the original two X-COM
games was that the hit the sweet spot between complexity and playability.
Something that was never emulated in the later games or the clones. >> Stay informed about: Xbox 360 Blu-ray console shipping Q3. |

Hmm.
When I proposed over a year ago that the DVD drive in the XB360 should have
been modular so users could swap it out for HD-DVD/BluRay when the time
came, I was told that was a stupid idea.
Now everyone is bitching that they will have to buy a whole new XB360 to get
a BluRay drive...
Doesn't really matter to me anymore though. I have a PS3 that I use only
for BluRay and media. I own zero games for the PS3. My XB360 (Elite) is
strickly for games and Microsoft is now locked into games only being on DVD. >> Stay informed about: Xbox 360 Blu-ray console shipping Q3. |

To put a check mark in the BluRay feature.

I wouldn't worry about it. The XB360 is locked into DVD as far as games go.
If MS really is going to unveil an XB360 with an internal BR drive, they are
more looking at people who would buy the console strickly as a BR movie
player. I.e., many people, including myself, bought the PS3 just to use it
as a BR movie player. I also use it as a media player since it interfaces
with the PSP nicely, but I have zero games for the PS3. I don't plan on
getting any games for the PS3 unless they are exclusives and *really* good.
So far, that list is zero for me.
Again, MS should have made the DVD drive modular so that it could easily be
swapped out for a BR drive when the time came. I blame them for lack of
insight.
If there are any BR XB360 games in the XB360's life span, they will probably
be very few oddballs. Likely, they will also be released on multiple DVD's
for those that don't have the BR drive. >> Stay informed about: Xbox 360 Blu-ray console shipping Q3. |
