Well, there's really only two ways of doing HD. Analog - Component, VGA Digital - DVI, HDMI HDMI seems to make sense, since it's just one little cable, but in a home theater setup you have HDMI going to the TV and audio going to the surround sound so a single cable doesn't make a lot of sense (unless your tuner supports HDMI as well and you can run all your HDMI cables to the tuner and then a single one out to the TV.) My set has 1 DVI, 2 Component and, I think, 5 Composite/S-Video. My DVR supports HDMI so I slapped a converter on one end and connected it to the DVI port. The game systems are connected to the component. The release of a 360 HDMI cable assumes the 360 is capable of outputting a digital signal through the same port it does analog signals. I see plenty of adaptors to convert DVI to HDMI but the technology to convert component (or any analog signal) to HDMI seems pretty complex and expensive. I think there are only a few adaptors on the market in the $400 range that can currently do this.
