X2...Can't buy stations?

Just found the manual under material I thought hadn't been moved in a decade
or so...go figure. What was it doing there?!?

One of the tutorials covers buying and deploying a
factory reallly nicely.. I think it's the third one in the
pilot license test section.

You need to hire one of these giant transporters, a mammut or an orca. Just
follow and contact them and they will offer a price for their service.
Accept and tell them to dock at the shipyard. You can only trade stations
when you have a ST-class transporter.
