Any comments from the RPGers ? The developers of 2W were
hired by Jowood to do Gothic 4, after they split from PBytes.
There's a demo which I will get down tomorrow. Kind of wondering
if 2W can do the job, and meet the standards of Gothic 3 as far
as environment, and just plain high class atmosphere.
And Two Worlds for PC is already in the stores. I just saw it
and noted who did it. Pretty pricey too ... $50. Is it as good
as Gothic 3, or just another Oblivion.

Nuts. I'm wrong. It is Spellbound Studios doing Gothic 4. Rats!
I was thinking to get an evaluation of what I might see in Gothic 4.
Could have sworn I read it was SouthPeak, but nope. Besides,
2W is not getting top reviews. Just another Oblivion.

I commented on it two or three months ago when it came out in Germany. It
is a disapointment, don't buy it blindly.

Yeah .. something like 5 patches in just a few months ??
At least they seem to care. Gothic 3 had 2 patches before
it reached the USA, and then 1 more and a couple of
community fixes. They are even patching the demos.

Two Worlds ..I have it .
as Michael says its just very dull and all the same weak repetitive game
style..
No sense of charator in it...The many patches help...but the AI is just
ridiculous in chasing
our Hero around simplistically
A sort of weak version of Oblivion meets Gothic.
But try a Demo if around.

This thread has prompted me to check out Two Worlds again and there is a new
1.5 patch at...believe it
or not over 1 Gig's size ???? (is that 1 Gig a record for a patch ?)

Any way some Bunny someplace comments
"" RELEASE NOTES:
This is a huge patch containing bug fixes, graphic updates and much more.
work with all versions of Two-Worlds
This update patch will be like a completely new game at 1.5. started over
just to get the full update effect"""

Sound like it might really amount to something after all...(what do we think
Michael ??)
Amazing amount of work being put into the follow up patches...
but ain't it always the 1st impressions that rules the sales ?

I'm just playing the English demo now. The patched version apparently had
its US roll-out in the last few days. Both console and pc versions are
available in quantity at all the big outlets. Never heard of this game till
yesterday. Don't know if I'm very impressed as yet.

A game requiring a patch that size is destined for the bargain bin in
short order, as the original must have been virtually unplayable. And
not everybody ( except the few privileged on this newsgroup ) has
either the patience or the bandwidth to download a huge patch. Rumors
of huge patches keeps many buyers away.

ARMA is in the same boat -destined for the bargain bin very soon. The
US version requires a 300-400Meg patch, the Euro version a total of 1
Gbyte patches.

I don't honestly know if the version of Two Worlds just released in the US
is the patched version. I played the English demo for a couple of hours
yesterday and didn't encounter any bugs. OTOH, the game has not really
taken off for me yet. Doesn't really seem like a $50 title ($60 for
console).

After reading about Two Worlds here yesterday I pulled down a few websites with
reviews, user comments et al. One thing quickly becomes obvious: not many
people, if any, think there's much of a game there. The opinions on the
graphics vary from 1 to 10, but nobody seems to think much of the gameplay.

Um. Pass, I think.

(heads back to the current game of CivIV with Sevomod) -P.

If you haven't already, take a look at this Octopus Overlords threads on it
(I'm Corvus Corax there):

http://www.octopusoverlords.com/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=54178

Some peeps really like it, while others (including myself) can't really
get with it. I wanted to like it (forum factor really worked on me) and was
planning to buy the full game a couple of days ago. The more I play it,
however, the less it interests me. It's not anything major things, just
lots of little things.

Thanks for the heads-up, this has motivated me to at least download the demo
some time. These voices are distinctly different from what I'd read before.

cheers, -P.
