I hadn't seen one in probably a year and a half. And I play the game a lot,
too, probably 10 hours a week on average.

It seems the burglars leave me alone forever after they get busted one time,
unless I move the sims to a new house and then eventually they'll get hit
again, but only once or twice and then the burglar never returns.

You've never seen them in S2??
It's really funny, actually.
I've only seen them once or twice- but when it happened my Sims were
asleep.
Burglar came (sort of tip-toeing up the sidewalk like teens do when
they sneak out) .. alarm went off.. cops show up and begin to fight
with the burglar in a big cloud of smoke. My Sims run downstairs and
outside to cheer the cop on. Burglar gets tossed onto the ground and
taken away by the fuzz.
First time i saw that it cracked me up. But my Sims were very tired so
they weren't nearly as amused as i was.
You can also run out there and fight them yourself IIRC.

Cheers,
Eddie

Yeah, like forever in my game. I've never seen the burglar in Sims2 and
I've been playing it about that much, too, since it first came out. I don't
use burglar alarms, either. <g> I guess my sims all live in a crime free
area, which is odd, considering how many of them are pursuing that career
field.

I think they don't come as often if you have burglar alarms (they're not
that daft). In fact, I have seen a burglar turn up at the lot on the
portal, sort of shrug and disappear again immediately.

Best wishes

Nina and Dina always (at least in my game) get robbed the first night I play
them. Perhaps if you play the Goth's and marry Dina to Mortimer before
actually spending a night at the Caliente's then the burgular doesn't
appear.

No, I've played it both ways over the years. I've never had a burglar at
any house in my game. I have no hacks to prevent it. I think I only had
the burglar maybe once or twice in Sims1. Maybe I just have a low crime
neighborhood.

I had them pretty frequently when I just had the base game. But after
installing University, I hadn't seen one until this happened.

When I get burglars, it seems like I get them in every house in the
neighborhood in rapid sucession...

After Unleashed, I stopped getting so many burglars and started getting
raccoons.

It's interesting that you don't get them very often. I have all the pckages
except the Holiday one and my sims are burglarized fairly regularly, alarms
or not. The only housing that I have not had burglarized are the dorms. I
must have a really dishonest bunch in my game. It is intersting that it
is not uniform among games. I wonder what the trigger is?
