I'll check this out.

I did some more playing around, setting to 800x600, decreasing all my
settings to lowest, and I get a small increase, but still only get 7fps
in windowed mode. There is definitely something wrong because as I
mentioned, Guild Wars played perfectly in windowed mode at high settings.

I tried this, my desktop was set at 32 bit, WoW at 24 bit. I decreased
them both to 16, no difference. Are you saying that everyone who runs
WoW in windowed mode has to decrease there windows colour deptch to 16
bit? I doubt that.

Well, I finally found some information about this.

If I set the multisampling in WoW to 1x it solves the problem of
unplayable FPS, but really it's no solution at all. I don't want to look
at jagged edges all the time, WoW looks noticeable worse with 1x AA.

So I guess I'll just have to stick to fullscreen mode.

I haven't had to change anything, my desktop runs at 32bit, WoW at 24bit,
and I'm generally getting 60-70FPS with WoW windowed and maximised.

I'd be thinking video drivers.

If your graphics driver lets you 'fix' the anti-aliasing setting,
try setting the option in WoW to 1x and then fix the setting in the
driver to 2x or 4x. This works around anything "special" that the
application tries to do when anti-aliasing is on, because it doesn't
know it's on.

I know you can do this kind of thing in nVidia drivers, not sure
about ATI. Worth a try, anyway.

I'm a little embarrassed about this, but pleased nonetheless. I fixed my
problem by doing what I should have done at the beginning, and what many
of you suggested: I updated my ATI omega drivers. I thought I had the
latest version, turns out I didn't.

Can now play fine in windowed mode, at least it worked in the very brief
test I did after installing the drivers.

Thanks for the help!
