My first recommendation would be to cut back on the caffeine.
I've never played Diablo 2 but it was pretty clear he was trying to use
the analogy that you yourself raised.

buy another copy of the game and if you both want to be in the new BC
zones (or play the new races or go above level 60) then you have to buy
1 copy of BC for each account.
So you can buy another WoW now and set it up so the wife can play. In
fact, if I were you, that is probably what I would do. The wife might
decide she doesn't like WoW and stop playing before BC comes out thus
