Ok, got the Wii. Gamecube moving to my bedroom to be an awesome late
night Ikaruga machine.

Does anyone know if:

1: You can use the Classic Controller they will sell you for GC games
instead of plugging a GC controller into the top/side of the Wii.
2: There is a way to use Wii memory slots/cards rather than GC cards,
since frankly I only have 1 memory card for the GC, that' going
upstairs and I don't want to spoil the line of my Wii by having all
this GC stuff sticking out of it.
3: Anything like Freeloader works on the Wii? I have import GC games
that I want to run and my Freeloader don't work (logically since it's a
disc stop and open lid solution).

Ta folks, also anyone want to be a Wii friend?

No. You have to use the Gamecube controller for gamecube games. All the
current virtual console games can work with Gamecube controller or Wii
classic controller. This makes the classic controller a waste of money
if you already own a Gamecube.

No. You have to use Gamecube memory cards for GC games....

No It's possible the front loading drive was implemented to help
prevent such programs, my guess is that it will be a long time before
anything like this becomes available... However, I've been wrong
before.

Would be useless at this point since none of the games support on-line
play. I wonder why no one has has complained about Wii Sports not
supporting on-line play.

No, it won't work with GC games. That's one of the biggest complaints about
how Nintendo set up backwards compatability with the GC. That, and the fact
that you have to manually turn the machine off to switch from "Gamecube"
mode back to "Wii" mode.

Again, no. You'll have to use GC memory cards for GC games.

Seriously, it makes you wonder why Nintendo went to so much effort to make a
small sleek console, only to require you to have all kinds of stuff poking
out of it if you want to play Gamecube games. Especially considering that
retro gaming is one of the console's big selling points.

Not yet, AFAIK. Give it some time, somebody will figure out how to make it
work.

It's not useless. You can swap Miis and messages.

Wii Sports is a party game that requires people to be in the room with
each other. It would be soulless online.
