The whole Hype about the Wii makes one think why this console is so in
demand. Its certainly not the graphics or interactivity...where both
the 360 and ps3 win. The only area the Wii has is its simplicity that
where anyone can pick up and play...and the people playing these games
are the ones who had no ideas about playing with a regular
controller ... True the bowling, golf, baseball are fun but get old
very fast...once this novelty wears off I am afraid people will
realize they purchased a system withmuch less capabilty than other
systems...

Hello? Metroid Prime 3 is brilliant. Eledees uses the controller in a
remarkable fashion. I haven't played the PS3 controller yet, but if it's
anything like the PS2, it's really isn't fitting my hands. I always liked
the Dreamcast pad and Gamecube controller is okay. I get pains in my hand
from the PS and PS2 controllers.

Wii controller rules big time. It's simply brilliant and I don't get the
feel of it getting old fast.

I do wish they put a big more powerful graphics processor in there though.

interactivity: n. term used by trolls when they cannot think of
anything else to troll about.

I didn't get that either. Online play maybe? Vote is interactive isn't it.

You even said it yourself, ''True the bowling, golf, baseball are
fun....'' The Nintendo Wii is very fun and simple to use. It like all
other Nintendo consoles and/or games is family oriented and has hit
its bullseye. You can't deny it that it is a very fun and easy system
even if it isn't as advanced as other consoles such as the PS3 which
more established gamers such as you and I know what to buy. However
what if I was to tell you that you could get a brand new Nintendo Wii
for little to know money ? BS you say ? Wrong ! I thought it was a
bunch of BS until my Wii arrived which, by the way, is sold out almost
everywhere right now.

(Ignoring the fact that that dude is a spammer trying to get us to get
him a "free" console by following the link he provides...) What he is
talking about is that the Wii really sold well to non-traditional
gamers, i.e., those who didn't have a console already and those who
wouldn't have gotten a traditional (i.e., XBox or Playstation) console
before. One of my buddies got a Wii and his family and mine get
together sometimes and it is a blast to play as a group. My wife is
studying to be an Occupational Therapist and the Wii is a big hit
among Occupational/Recreational/Physical therapists in their work.
XBox and PS totally missed the family/group/therapy market.

Interesting. Here I see them only used by younger folk (and almost
100% of them). All my son's friends have a DS and every kid in his
boy scout troop, even the older boys, also have one.

Not half as much as the DS I reckon, I see so many of them being used
by women and middle-aged blokes on the tube in London, and I'm only up
here briefly.

BY INTEREACTIVITY I meant your can keep in touch easily with your
friends online , send them e-mail easily voice easily and play
multiplayer games.

Ah right. Actually, that's not the usual meaning of interactivity in
computing, which usually refers to how a user manipulates, communicates,
etc., with the *system*, as opposed to other users. I think the Wii's
novel and (sometimes!) intuitive interaction design is a major
contribution to its popularity.

I'm not sure what term would be better suited to what you're describing.
Fortunately, it's of little importance to me when choosing a console,
as I have no friends.

I don't have much contact with kids as I don't have any, but in the
last month I've seen probably something in the region of four adults
in public, engrossed in their DSes, no idea what they were playing as
I don't recall any sound. Two of those were in the last four days
during which I was commuting on the tube in London (thankfully back
home now).

My nieces and nephews have either DSes or PSPs, with the DS being the
most popular (6 DSes to 2 PSPs), with the deciding factor seemingly
age (the oldest want PSPs). Needless to say, the PSPs don't actually
get used Wink In fact none of the 6 or so PSP owners I know actually
use the damned things.

The hype is out of control.

The majority of Wii consumers IMO are most likely to be similar to the
majority of people who buy a HDTV, they buy the TV but don't buy other
HD products to get the most out of it, continuing to watch SD in a HD
box. If this wasn't the case then SMG would've been brought by over
50% of Wii consumers.

If my assumptions are correct then shortages could go on forever...
