Do some aircraft really have white rubber tyres (can't say I ever
noticed - and the tyres are not something you get to see too much of
when you are flying real-world) or have the FS9 a/c repainters just
forgotten them?

I have a number of a/c with white wheels and would paint them black -
but I can't see anything resembling tyres in any of the bitmaps (one
opened with DTX editor). What do I repaint?? Or are the tyres white
because the bitmap is missing?

Thanks!

Martin

I suspect your repaints are missing the paint job on the tires, since the
underlying aircraft model is grey (what you are calling white).

All of the repaints I have seen and made have tire details right in the
same file as the aircraft skin color. In other words, there was not a
separate BMP file for just the tires.

For what aircraft are these repaints designed? Default, freeware, or
payware?

Are the aircraft that are missing the tire color all of the same repainter
or same aircraft designer?

I seem to remember whitish tires on the SR-71. I suspect those are something
special however.

Maybe not. Take a look at my post titled "SR71 Pic"

I blv this has something to do with alpha layers or some such magic - way
beyond my talents, I just fly the things. I have found that turning off
aircraft reflections restores the usual black rubber. Also as a consequence
you may also gain a fps or two

I'll check things out a bit and post back when I have found 'the
culprits'. I seem to remember they are mostly Airbus a/c - though
today I was in a new Philippine Airlines DC-10 from AVSIM which has
white tyres. It seems to be failry common - I know I have several
planes like this.

I was looking for the tyres on all the bitmaps that make up the
texture folder - but didn't spot anything that looked even vaguely
like a tyre, which is why I wondered if they had been left off by
mistake. Probably not - I did once repaint a B707 but I am not really
much of an expert in this.

Found, at least in the case of the Philippine DC10 I mentioned, there
were some bitmaps missing from the texture folder. I've copied them
into the folder from another DC-10 and now this plane at least has
black tyres.

I must check for other aircraft I find with white tyres to see if they
have missing bitmpas as well..
