You won't find High DPS and High Defense together, as that would be too
good. You always have to give up one thing to get another.

High Life Pets:
Bear : High Life - Med Armor - Low DPS
Gorilla : High Life - Low Armor - Med DPS
Strider : High Life - Low Armor - Med DPS

High Armor Pets:
Crab : Low Life - High Armor - Med DPS
Croc : Low Life - High Armor - Med DPS
Scorpid : Med Life - High Armor - Low DPS
Turtle : Med Life - HighArmor - Low DPS

High DPS Pets:
Bat : Med Life - Low Armor - High DPS
Cat : Med Life - Low Armor - High DPS
Owl : Med Life - Low Armor - High DPS
Raptor : Low Life - Med Armor - High DPS
Spider : Med Life - Low Armor - High DPS
Wind Spt : Med Life - Low Armor - High DPS

Multi-Purpose (ie Average at all):
Boar : Med Life - High Armor - Low DPS
Bird : Med Life - Med Armor - Med DPS
Hyena : Med Life - Med Armor - Med DPS
Wolf : Med Life - Med Armor - Med DPS

In my opinion - carrion bird with screech and growl + claw and bite.
No critical shoot can take agro from pet to you - so you are safe to shoot
as much as you like.
And carrion bird is not so fragile as owl however owl can make more damage
(perhaps).
And in my opinion carron bird diet is better than that of owl - carrion can
eat meat and fish when owl only meat.

Attack speed means little for me, what matters for me is the
running/dashing speed. The Rake is insanely fast (L10 Cat in Mulgore)

Another good one for Beast Masters is Ursius (56 elite in Winterspring)
if you want to surprise your opponent with insanely high crits.

Ursius has 2.4 attack speed and is the slowest pet in the game (2nd
slower is 2.0 attack speed). Give him claw (to proc frenzy), buff the
babe with a roasted Quail, some juju power, click on bestial wrath,
enjoy crits in the 600-700 range...

I was too lazy to level him from 56 to 60 and tamed a 59 shardtooth
instead... blimey Smile
