| I was adventuring in some ruins near the imperial city when I came across
several welkynd stones. I found others atop some holders in the main
chamber and there was also a large glowing stone that I could not get to. I
have never seen these stones before and was wondering if they are useful in
the game or simply something I can sell. Can anyone shed some light on this
before I decided to sell them.

I tried shooting down about a dozen (maybe two dozen), and every single
one just landed in the back of the shelf it was on, where I still could
not reach it. I don't bother any more.l >> Stay informed about: Welkynd stones |

Try using geometry. Change the ANGLE at which you shoot hte thing so
it rebounds differently I can shoot them down EVERY time AND catch the
arrow in midair as it bounces back. (Stupid archer tricks I know.
Real fun game is to play "catch the arrow' after you shoot a mine.) >> Stay informed about: Welkynd stones |

As Petrushka said, shoot down any you can't reach. If this is Vilverin, there
is a clue to this in a scroll found in the bandit leader's room, next to 3

I 'always' shoot them down from the side. I snuggle up in the corner and
aim for the tip top of the stone. 99% of the time they bounce and roll right
out front, AND... I can usually snatch back my arrow before it even hits the
floor. >> Stay informed about: Welkynd stones |

In certain areas, you can jump onto objects and then onto ledges above your
head. Since you can change directions when jumping, you can also jump around
small corners, etc, if you dont have a manipulation spell. >> Stay informed about: Welkynd stones |

They restore your magicka to full. Try clicking on them in your
inventory to "equip" them -- only works when you're not at full. Very
useful when you're at high level and you have a *lot* of magicka. For
the ones that are very high up out of reach: try shooting them with a
bow and arrow, or a fireball. They're also used in a couple of quests.
Incidentally, varla stones, which you may also find in similar ruins,
recharge all enchanted items in your inventory. >> Stay informed about: Welkynd stones |

the shelf or table is seldom flush to the wall. It is
visible if you look from the side

You need to stand off immediately to the right or left of the pillar and
shoot the stone off sideways. I am usually able to recover both the stone
and my arrow. >> Stay informed about: Welkynd stones |

My archer plays a "catch the arrow" game. She stands off the side and
just slightly turned forward, then shoots the top of the stone with an
arrow. The goal of the game is to catch the arrow in midair as it
bounces back at her.
(Even if the stones land on that ledge you can usually hop/grab them.)
