So. Last night i gquit from my guild. I was just fed up with what i
felt was a tremendous waste of time (and quite frankly ability). Ill
refrain from mentioning guild name or server but its possible ive
posted about it in the past if people wanna search.
Basically it goes like this. I consider myself a casual player
although ive been bordering on more hardcore lately. I desperatley
don't want WoW to absorb every aspect of my life so i try and find a
guild who accomidates this while still having some focus on progress
(hey i wanna see all the instances too). I'm starting to realize this
isn't possible.
So after joining a friend's guild (who he was invited to randomly) it
went well for the first 60 levels of my character. By well i mean, i
didnt ever need help leveling so i really didn't do much with them but
hey i had lots of green text to contribute to. I get to level 60
thinking it'll be great, we have lots of 70s, lots of 60s, getting a
group to do instances should be easy. No luck.
Over the past 2 weeks I have tried to put together at least a dozen
random runs of ramps or BF. I have yet to have one response. Meanwhile
almost every 70 in our guild is regularly running molton core or AQ or
ZG. Now im perfectly ok with a guild running those old school
instances on a whim for the hell of it. Hell i never got to see them
so i would have eventually tagged along, but they run them 2x a week
like they are farming gear. Gear that is horribly out of date and
completley worthless. Seems to me if the guild wanted to progress at
all they would be devoting that time to gearing people in heroics or
running Kara. We have enough people.
So i deem them the weirdest guild ever. I have been in guilds that
never did anything, which is boring but understandable.. .sometimes
you dont have the best leaders. Hell i RAN a guild that didnt do
anything so im a terrible leader too. But to spend all your time
running old world raids and then getting excited when tier 1 or 2 gear
drops that was outdated the minute i stepped foot into Hellfire, thats
just odd.
Anyway anyone out there have a casual friendly - progress oriented
guild interested in a lvl 62 warrior (and 64 lock if i can convince
him)? Im up for transfering lol.

isn't there something about grass and being greener??...
alliance or hoard?
The guild I am in would accomodate you well (alliance). They are very
causual and only really do the 5 man instances. Unfortunately I have
been itching to try some of those massive raids (even the old ones
because I never did them) because I want to see content and gear is
nice too. I never killed onyxia or did MC. If you want a friendly
causual guild thats active though out the night then check out Blood
and Roses on Drak Thul. (or even their myspace) >> Stay informed about: Weirdest Guild Ever |

Ya the grass is always greener, and i agree i wouldnt mind running MC
or Ony but not a the expense of actually progressing in the core game.
The loot is neat but the greens i got at lvl 60 were better than the
stuff that drops in MC so its kinda useless. >> Stay informed about: Weirdest Guild Ever |

You bring up a good point. This seems to be a consistant thing though

Yeah. For the last 2 weeks it's been hell for us to put together any
25 mans (we were regularly clearing Gruul, and had gotten Mags down to
23%).
We have made a few more forays into ZA (as of last night we've gotten
down Nalorakk and Halazzi), but man, they still want to run Kara more
in this offtime, and I'm at the point to where if I have to run Kara
anymore I'd just rather not play at all .

Exactly. And the shard farming is even pointless, as the purple shards
you get from oldworld instance items aren't even used in any outlands
enchantments, and very few interesting lower level enchants, for that
matter. >> Stay informed about: Weirdest Guild Ever |

Actually i suppose i should clarify something. id love to do 25 mans
but realistically im content in a guild that focuses on the 10 man
encounters and heroics. I just dont see 25 man raids as something ill
get to any time soon or at all. >> Stay informed about: Weirdest Guild Ever |

My guild is large enough that even during the holidays, you can regularly
find a 5-man group for Heroics, and on Wednesday this week we even had
enough people to race Kara[1].
I don't expect we'll do much serious 25 man raiding until after the New
year, though. It's all heorics and premade BGs right now[2].
[1] Kara Racing: form 2 groups to run Karazhan at the same time. First
one to clear the instance wins. (My team lost thanks in part to some very
bad luck with Prince's Infernals.)
[2] And, with any luck, Zul'Aman

you are right
it isn't possible
