Weird stuff on vacation

Erik and Melody Swain (nee Tinker) went on vacation in the mountains. While
there, a Gypsy brought them a lamp, for who-knows-what-reason. Almost
immediately, both wanted to make a wish, so I had Mel rub the lamp first.
The Genie popped out, and said, "If Master can go on a vacation, then I
should be able to as well. Try when you get back home." WTF? lol

What is this thing that Sims do in order for the Gypsy to drop the thing
off? Why can't they make wishes on vacation?

Isn't it something to do with the level of hobby interest? Mine have never
got that interested. Anyway, the reason they can't do it on Vacation will
be because Vacation lots are all, in varying ways, like community lots and
that means that certain functions are unavailable - things that might clash
with the use of the lamp - I imagine, though don't know, of course, that you
can't use the lantern on any community lot.
