At the Penarth show a week ago I got speaking with one of the
Warhammer Historical guys and it turns out that after Pirates is
released this month, their WWI game is coming out next month (if
everything goes according to plan).
It's based around 40k apparently but they've refined the shooting
process and now if you move and shoot you receive a penalty and lots
of other stuff.
The first book covers the start and end of the war and the expansion
will cover trench warfare. From what I've heard it sounds okay with
missions being more important than just killing people. And trenches,
how great is that.
I'm quite interested in this since on the whole Warhammer Historicals
has a solid series of games. WAB is hugely popular and has lots of
nice rule books. Warmaster Ancients is currently my game of choice
and is so much easier to understand than DBM and even Legends of the
Old West is kinda fun but only in the same way that the LOTR games are
(ie, not a patch on Mordheim), but they actually work better in
Legends than they did in LotR.
So I'm thinking this could be kind of fun, 40k in a WWI setting. If
anyone has any info on this could they please post it here. I need to
know more.
