Archived from groups: rec>games>miniatures>warhammer (more info?)

Would any of you even bother playing in a tournament that included
this list at 1500 points?

----------------------------------------------------------------------
All Tzeench Marked (10 Casting dice/ 4 Dispell)

Exalted Chump on horse w/ 0+/4+ no magic weapon (lvl 2 wiz)

Exalted Daemon with spell destroyer (Scroll with on 4+ destroy the
spell.. worked twice on Mistress of the Marsh (game 2) and ate Fury of
Kane (game 3)) .. (lvl 2 wiz)

3 Chariots

4 Chosen knights with 5+ ward save banner (full command)

Giant
----------------------------------------------------------------------

There's a few problems I have here:

1. This is a 10-yr-old's army design. It proves no skill, just raping
of an army book that wasn't though through.

2. The person who plays it continuously claims he's the best player
around because he wins with lists like this. He also never paints his
figures so he can swap up which army he's playing (Khorne or Tzeentch
with his Chaos).

3. A bunch of guys tried to make a big fuss over Skaven weapon teams
being "cheesy" and still hold that opinion despite them being
targetable (and being easy to pop before if someone had a clue as to
what they were doing). Yet none of those people stepped up to say
this was ridiculous. Indeed, they actually tried to talk about how
great the guy was (mainly because I'd pointed out some of his own
dirty tricks in games).

Worst of all, it took the overall win. Granted, there were only eight
players.

The tournament this list was used at was 1500 points with no painting
score (so if you painted your army, too bad!), no real composition
score, and sportsmanship is the buddy system where you mark down
anyone you're not chummy with (it supposedly isn't supposed to work
this way, but even GW knew it would). I'm glad I didn't show up now,
since I'd get no reward for actually putting effort into painting my
army, while someone with a munchkin's army would likely end up facing
me and I'd refuse to play.

What happened to these games?

Aren't you the one who is always complaining about "touchy-feely"
tournaments where points are awarded for things other than winning?

And in case you thought that metaphor was too cliched, one of my
options was comparing it to a wife, but I don't want GW getting the
wrong idea of gamers "marrying the Hobby" or anything. They'd set up
shot in a small chapel in Las Vegas and everything we know would go
all to hell.

Heh! When's the last time that list had any activity at all?
Been a year or two at least. I have to wonder if it even still
works... (How long before Yahoo kills mailing lists for lack of
activity?)

apparently you guys moved to a new "Super Sekrit" mail list and didn't
tell me... but if it's just Myr doing "I got banned from Myspace for
these pictures, here take a look", then it's just as well...

That was the Yahoo RGMW General Business list. And yeah, it's
fairly dead. With folks able to post images on free sites like flickr
there isn't nearly as much need for the list as it was mainly used as a
file and image hosting site.

Now you're just trying to egg me on to send something to the old
old list. Seriously, I haven't seen any traffic on it in years.

who was the player erik that you were playing just asking sir. if the
fact that it was the army that was easy to play not the player that
would be one thing. the other would be is why are you fight fair when
they arent going to give eirk the same standard as everyone else. you
measure different from everyone else and what happens when you play
there sytle you lose and may crazy commients.(this is calling the
kettle black of course.) besides it crazy to see that wfb has it
problem like all game systems.

Sorry, my mistake in wording. (Yes, I admitted to poor wording.
Surely the end times are here.) He's in his 20s, I meant this list is
similar to one a 10 year old would create.

If it was a ten year old, I'd just teach him the error of his ways.
I've done that before, particularly in WFB6 with a guy in Georgia who
insisted on using a tricked-out Wood Elf army from the White Dwarf WE
list. Well, this guy was like 14 or 15, but he was arrogant and it
was kind of fun taking him down a notch. He tried to blow it off like
some fluke, then attended a tourney in Jacksonville at one of the
stores and found out just how nasty non-cheesy builds could be to his
army.

With this guy, if I felt like it, I'd just play my most gaudy Orc list
I could think of. If I really wanted to make him cry, I'd trick out a
High Elf or Dwarf list. I've been interested in running Dwarfs
lately, and in designing some lists I got a real appreciation for how
many dispel dice they can have and how hard it can be to get a spell
off on them. Do a few tricks with the Anvil of Doom and artillery,
and it'd rape that Chaos list.

Seriously man. Read your posts before hitting send. I had to read this
three or four times before I even knew what you were on about.

This is usenet, all we have is the written word. Would you put up with
someone coming up to you and speaking like a total mong, even though you
knew they could speak fine?

It was Canaan, master of the goofy lists (like a Bad Moonz list with
Nazdreg as its leader and two Warbosses).

I don't think everyone uses overly cheesy armies, not by a long shot.
I can also win a decent number of games of WFB, but I have admitted
it's not my best game. I'm more a 40K guy. I could probably do
better with Beastmen or Wood Elves in WFB because the skirmishing
units remove the problem of trying to maneuver big units.

And on that last comment... I remember Kieran claiming he wouldn't
play 40K because there's too much emphasis on characters and
individual models and too many cheesy lists. Kind of ironic.
