Any tips from anyone on character development would be appreciated. Too many
decisions has me frustrated.

I find myself trying to spred my XPs around to try and be good at most
things but suspect i should be focusing on just a few Feats instead. I'm
still not out of Santa Monica so may have time to correct my mistakes..
unless it's important to focus on a few feats right from the start.

What type of character is best to get thru the game with? I suspect i need
combat feats early and worry about other stuff later or does it work to
build up an all around character? Some of the boss fights are pretty tough
even early in the game.

Currently, i chose to play a Gangrel and not to focus on the Protean
discipline. Planning on getting level 2 Animalism for the Burrowing Beetle
attack and then build up Fortitude, which i already have 2 points in.

The last 25% of the game is a total hack-fest, so if you don't build up
combat skills by that point you're screwed. It's another of the 'you
can build any character you like so long as it's a fighter' RPGs.

Alternatively, just pretend that the last part of the game doesn't
exist and have fun before that point. Boss fights are retarded anyway,
and should have been left for dead in the 20th century.

I never found combat to be that important to concentrate on directly, so
long as you have a substitute power/skill group to compensate (e.g.
Malkavian stealth, Tremere blood magic, etc). Not sure about the Gangrel,
but I suggest you max out your main 1 or 2 class skills (protean = shape
shifting?) as a bit of a priority. I concentrated on melee weapons a bit &
blood magic with my Tremere & had no probs. Having said that, I also put a
few points into security & hacking as I hate leaving doors unopened Smile
Just have fun & don't sweat it - there's plenty of points to go around &
you're only early in the game. If something is frustrating you with the
combat, try a different approach or do something else. It really is an easy
game for a fps/rpg hybrid & only with the most esoteric of char builds could
one completely cripple a character really. Wink

Thanks for the feedback.

I'm curious how one deals with the Tremere blood shield in a masquerade area
after a battle if it wasn't destroyed during the fight. Did that give you
any problems? Or perhaps it does wear off after a while?

Yes, Protean is shape shifting but i'm not planning on developing that
discipline this time thru. I want to get used to the other options for
combat and so am going to focus on Fortitude (increased Soaks).

I made it Downtown and now have a new area to explore Smile
(It seemed like it took forever to find a way out of the warehouse after i
blew it up)

Thanks for the input. I guess i'll find out whether i like that or not when
i get there. At least i figured out to save before entering an unknown area
or opening doors. I've had quite a few final deaths so far and expect alot
more.
