Wow, this topic and the responses are flabbergasting! The bigger
question is almost "How can you NOT know how to put videos on a PSP?".
Putting videos on the memory stick is so simple that it is the primary
cause of the demise of UMD movies. Why buy a UMD movie when you can rip
a DVD and put it on the PSP? There must be at least a thousand
tutorials on how to do every aspect of it. If anything, Sony is
probably regretting making it so easy, easier than any other handheld
out there.
The first thing is the video needs to be in a specific directory. It is
\MP_ROOT\100MNV01 and they have to be in MP4 format with an
accompanying info file. There were at least half a dozen *free*
encoders out way before the commercial encoder packages from Sony. Read
this for a start and just look for PSP movie tutorials. Really, there
are literally hundreds to thousands of them:
