About two months ago my computer started freezing, then rebooting when I
tried to play a game. It never did this before two months ago, and happens a
few minutes into the game. I have tried to play CounterStrike:Source and
Warcraft 3, both of which have very good graphics. Sometimes the computer
freezes and the screen turns black, then it reboots, while other times the
screen turns blue, and sometimes there are error messages on this blue
screen. Every time I send an error report to Microsoft it says it is caused
by a "device driver." I have updated, rolled back, and deleted and
reinstalled all my drivers, but it is probably the display driver. I have
defragmented my computer, scanned for viruses, and gotten the latest software
updates. Is there any way to fix this problem without replacing parts of my
computer? >> Stay informed about: Video Card Problems |

what is the OS and video card model?
have you tried WDM drivers?
look also for Omega drivers (game dedicated),
Check for device name or info..and post it,
they can be decoded and will give manuf. name.
device driver are hardware but it could also
be a conflicting non-video device driver or
part of that devices software bundle.

hi Venom,
Well this problem was similar to what i faced when i played games..but my OS
Is Vista.
The problem of sudden black out with computer freezing out made me go mad!!!
But i faced these problems only with certain games Like
Halo2,MOD:Airborne,COD4,FEAR(these games have got heavy graphics)
games like NFS Carbon and Prostreet worked great without any problem.
I have a Nvidia Geforce 8600gts Card....I posted my problems on Nvidia
support and i got good responce with great solution which solved up my
problem.
The main reason for sudden crash is....
1. Check out the latest drivers for ur graphic card(remove the old drivers
completely and install the latest ones replacing it) Latest Drivers Fix lot
of old bugs and problems.
2. Check ur Graphic card if its heating up and the Fan(or heat sink) on it
is working properlly.(card tempertaure does shoot up when playing heavy
graphic games) u will need good AIR ventilation or extra Fan to keep it in
proper tempertaure.
3. and the Blue screen ur facing is Called as Blue Screen Of Death. Check ur
Ram(replace it with another one if possible or upgrade it)
These things helped me a lot.....keep updating the games too with latest
patches available..
and still if problem continues...replace or exchange ur Graphic Card with
the Latest one.
wish u good luck.
