The game is dark, and was meant to be. But a lot of people had problems
with it being just TOO dark to even play. So for the brightness stuff,
have a look at those UC Doom3 guides I posted the link to. They have tweaks
for the overall brightness worked out and some explanations.
Video card. I suggest at least a Radeon 9800 Pro 128 meg, but not the AIW
9800 Pro. Or for Nvidia, a FX5900. These are the top of the DX9 cards at
the time Doom3 was released. For newer cards, a Radeon X800 or Nvidia 6800
would be a good starting level.
Most bang for the buck currently IMO would be an X850XT or 6800GT, for AGP.
