I think as long as there are still bugs in Bloodlines that I can fix
this is the right side for all the people already owning it .

This is already happening: On the Direct2Drive homepage Bloodlines is
mentioned as "coming soon". And luckily it's not on Steam !

I don't know about inclusion of the unofficial patch, which makes not much
sense until we are really certain that the current patch will indeed be
the final one, but I guess that this Direct2Drive Bloodlines indeed has to
work without a disk.

I think you misunderstood me last time. I think that I myself are much too
_unimportant_ to even try to contact Activision about anything like this.
Like you said, to them I'm just a fan and they made their move already .

Why that? Do they release the files in some kind of stupid containers like
Steam does with its gcfs? If not and the files just end up seperately in
the right folders on the hard disk, the unofficial patch should work fine.

I noticed a similar issue with Thief: Deadly Shadows, where
Direct2Drive purchasers couldn't avail of any of the excellent
third-party mods which enhanced the original consolized low-res
graphics. Considering on top of that that Direct2Drive prices appear to
be more expensive than buying an original hard-copy, and it's a major
minus.

The Ra blade does aggravated damage, the normal Katana does not IIRC...

I can understand that some normal patches would not work, because they
usually check the exe which without cd check probably isn't the same as
the original retail one. My patch doesn't do anything like this so let's
hope it works for the D2D version too. As long as it isn't "contained".
BTW, is there any kind of protection scheme used on the D2D downloads like
the Steam authentication and "decrypting hours before you can play" kind?
P.S.: Regarding the Ra blade, I will change it's description for 2.5...

Yeah that's what I remember - the standard katana was plain lethal
damage so the Ra blade was infinitely better vs enemy vamps.

Then the exe would have been like a cracked one and all patches checking
on that would fail. But this should not stop mods or addons from working
like stated here. At least not if they don't change the exe, which could
have been the case with improved Thief graphics. Does someone know more?

For me that will not work
Like I said to you I wanted a budget re-release in DVD-ROM,
not in online delivery.

Is any patch final?
Are there any software bug-free?
No patch can be final... it is always a working process...
Obviously there comes a time were devs have to move along
and do other things but software never becomes bug-free.

Come on Werner don't joke with me.
Like I always said I'm talking about Retail Boxed in CD or
DVD versions... obviously online delivery do not need the
disk inserted cause they don't have disks anyhow!

Every customer is important.
If you are a customer you have all the right to contact
Activision, but I understand you have other priorities in
life mainly doing patches and not worrying about making a
particular game return to the Retail market... >> Stay informed about: Vampire Bloodlines unofficial patch 2.4 released! |

Then YOU can try to make Activion release it if you think YOU are
important enough to make them do so!

Sorry, I'm just not overestimating my importance like you apparently do.
Get real! Activision will not release a game again on DVD only because
some customers want to. Especially not without copy protection! Also the
game returns to the Retail market, just not in your "dream" version...
