Opposing Force was exceptional for its time. The settings were
consistent with the game universe yet distinct from the original game
in how the player interacted with them. It's still a solid expansion.
A couple of months back I played through it over the span of a couple
of weekends. The level design, pacing, and environments are still
enjoyable although I did not find the artillery-field not as fun this
time through. Not counting Thy Flesh Consumed, this is the only FPS
expansion I've replayed at least five times through from
start-to-finish.

Exactly my opinion. And this was made by an amateur singlehanded in about
the same time as HL2:E1. Now can you imagine why I am dissappointed?

The trailer looks promising I have to admit. At least something new...

I haven't heard of the White Gold game either. It seems they try to
combine the gameplay of Boiling Point with the setting of Far Cry which
would be fine with me. I only hope that they create a better main quest
for the game and not a weak excuse of a plot like in Boiling Point.

I agree. One of the Gearbox people stated that they also had a PC port of
Decay finished, but due to "powers beyond our control" (Valve?, Sony?),
they couldn't release it. What a shame they are doing only BIA games now!

I'm currently almost done with my first game of Bloodlines ever using the
2.3 patch. My current game position is as a Gangrel ready to do battle with
Ming Xiao. It really has been an enjoyable game even though i wasn't sure i
was going to like it.

The only problem i had with the game was the bolted door in the temple.
After finding a thread about it on Planet Vampire, i experimented with saves
at that point till i got one that allowed the bolt to be moved after a
reload. I keep the strategy guide handy for when i get stuck or am not sure
what i am suppose to do but the game does a good job about giving clues as
to where to go next. I made sure i didn't miss any side quests using the
guide also.

I'll finish this game and then install 2.4 then play again as a different
clan... maybe a Brujah... not sure yet.

I like this so much, i ordered Redemption and will give that a try
eventually.

I know you will say NO to what I will just write but I want
to leave my point of view about this...

Although I congratulate you on the effords you are doing I
still think you are focusing on the wrong side.

For me Bloodlines no longer needs more "unofficial" patches
but rather something else.

Bloodlines was almost released two years ago and in many
markets it is no longer being sold.
So what does Bloodlines need if you Werner think the game
is really that special.

Find a new Publisher for Bloodlines that will re-release
it cause the first edition is no longer available, and
cause it is almost two years old try that this new release
will be a budget release.
Convince the Publisher to also get the source code and do
some needed patching in the EXE itself like some bugs and
finally removing the need for disk to be inserted.
Last and not least try and make this new publisher use
all the work you and your colleges have done in all these
months of unofficial patching so it can the included in
this budget re-release edition as an offical version.

So the to do list for Bloodlines will be no longer be more
unnoficial patches but instead:
.. Find new publisher for Bloodlines
.. Make this publisher re-release Bloodling in a budget edition
.. This budget edition will include all the patching you have
done in all the unofficial patches you created and also patch
the games EXE to remove the need for disk to be inserted and
any bugs that need to be corrected.
.. Make this edition in DVD-ROM which is must better than the 3
disk CD-ROMs from the first edition.

Now Werner if you want to give me the same BS (sorry but it
is what I feel) excuse about "me Werner is too important to
contact anyone and ask then to do anything about Bloodlines"
please don't bother to reply and let Bloodlines be just a
forgotten PC Game title from a failed developer that has a
bunch of amateur fans doing some unofficial patches for their
friends.

It seems as if you have a great idea here and know how to go about
driving this project. Why don't you spearhead it yourself ?? Er, "put
your 'money' where your mouth is" ? Talk is cheap. Walking the talk
takes time and dedication. You seem to have plenty of spare time to
dedicate to this endeavor. I suggest that you first open lines of
communication with the marketing director at Activision and go from
there with regard to their willingness to have an alternate developer
fix the game -- assuming that they took over the rights when Troika
went out of business. ( Activision may be so intrigued by your
suggestion that they might like to publish an appropriately fixed
version themselves in their budget titles) . Similar to the exercise
on F4: Allied Force, where the developer Lead Pursuit acquired the
original Falcon4 source code - which had lots of bugs and
user-upgrades ( like Werner's fixes). Lead Pursuit did a complete
face-lift and Graphsim published the updated version (@$29.99), which
has had excellent sales. No doubt many original Falcon4 purchasers
(like me) were also purchasers of the updated version.

I'm sure that Werner and his friends will provide key technical
information to the chosen developer, but is probably otherwise too
busy with his University work to give it his full attention.

To get the full flavour of "pc games"''s rantings, you have to imagine
him typing them at home on a customised Vic 20 while cradling his
mother's dessicated severed head on his lap (the remainder is in a
rocking chair behind him).

Oh, and don't forget to configure your client to always display his

I 'had' started thinking like that but a few posts like yours changed my
mind. When I get fed up of exploring I'll up the tempo and do the main
quest... then I'll move on to other games. Thanks for that.
