Hi everyone, the Bloodlines community is still going strong so if you want
to play something original of exactly the right size after the ultra-short
repetitious gameplay of HL2:E1 or the ultra-long repetitious gameplay of
Oblivion you can find another unoffical patch at the usual places starting
with www.3dgamers.com, which fixes some left over issues as stated below:
v2.4
----
Visible fangs added to all vampires missing them, thanks to DDLullu.
Raised Obfuscate frame rate with autoexec.cfg, thanks to Acleacius.
Made it possible for all clans to get the secret info from Johansen.
Fixed a stats condition issue that may result in several new lines.
You will receive a point of humanity for warning Wong Ho about Ming.
Gaining the Tremere haven is now independent from the quests order.
Restored Jeanette encounter that somehow got lost in recent changes.
Changed conditions and text for entering gallery with Chuck's help.
Corrected two lines to Isaac and Knox and changed a Muddy quest log.
Fixed speaking to LaCroix before going to the Society another time.
Removed double Masquerade redemption gained by taking care of Patty.
Added variable for Vick's death that may clear up connected quests.

Uh huh.
1. Half-Life 2: Episode 1 is not an RPG.
2. Oblivion's gameplay is not repetitious. Just very open-ended. >> Stay informed about: Vampire Bloodlines unofficial patch 2.4 released! |

Werner doesn't seem to grasp folk like different things. I never finished
Bloodlines - found it very boring as well as bugged to hell. Werner did a
great job of fixing most of the bugs but I have no desire to re-install it.
On the other hand I'm still playing both of the other games he mentioned. >> Stay informed about: Vampire Bloodlines unofficial patch 2.4 released! |

So what? Oblivion is not a FPS . I just wanted to state that we have two
very different games available at the moment, which are both not exactly
of my taste. HL2:E1 is much too short and Oblivion IMHO is just too large.
> 2. Oblivion's gameplay is not repetitious. Just very open-ended.
Sooner or later all Oblivion dungeons look the same to me, the leveling up
system makes the fights appear very similar too. It's open-ended-ness and
it's size is a much better excuse for repetition though than for HL2:E1.

Of course I do. For _myself_ Bloodlines was just the right mixture of FPS
and RPG at the right size. I'm rather dissappointed with HL2:E1 because
I'm a great HL (and HL2) fan and while I admire the size of Oblivion, it's
just too much RPG for myself, originating rather more from the FPS side.
Other people may have other preferences, but adding some controversial
lines to my announcements get's me more attention here in any case !

No. This will end up with a mixture of english and non-english subtitles
and probably lots of problems. AFAIK there is a french translation of the
earlier patches around and fans are working on a german translation...

OK. I really enjoyed HL2:Ep1 and I'm looking forward to 2. Oblivion is my
first RPG and I've really enoyed that too. Maybe we'll find some common
ground in Stalker

I enjoyed it too but it was much too short and much too similar to HL2.
Just remember old mission packs like Opposing Force where you got lots of
new enemies, weapons AND levels! Also the gameplay of HL2:E1 really was
very repetitive. How often did you fire a ball into a connector in the
citadel? How often did you move a car into a antlion hole? How often did
you cross the same level while evacuating the citizens? The latter really
shouted "We know the episode is too short, how can we prolong it without
creating more levels?" all over! Also for me the city levels just felt not
as "real" as the original HL2 ones. It was just too obvious that there was
nothing beyond all the closed doors and force fields. Overall besides the
cool scripting I liked the two released Minerva: Metastasis maps better.
> Oblivion is my first RPG and I've really enjoyed that too.
I enjoyed it in the beginning as well but after some time I got fed up and
finished the main quest in a few sessions. I will surely return to it now
and again but all the thousands of weapons and dungeons are much to much
for me. But for real RPG fans that's what I would call value for money !
> Maybe we'll find some common ground in Stalker
Let's hope so. Other games that sound interesting to me are White Gold:
War in paradise and The Precursors from the Boiling Point people...

You have some valid points but as a direct follow on to HL2 and set in the
same place I wasn't expecting too much to be different. Ep2 trailer
indicates a lot of new things to come now we're out of the city. If they
aren't delivered I might start thinking like you.

85 hrs in and haven't started the main quest yet Although I no doubt
sound like a worshipper of on-rails FPS I really am enoying just wondering
around the mountains and forests exploring.

a look. >> Stay informed about: Vampire Bloodlines unofficial patch 2.4 released! |

I like the similiarity : it makes it a story in a city under crisis.

Some truth in that : it did wear a little thin. But very well done : I
just loved the sounds of the Ant Lions thumping at the bottom of the
cars trying to force their way out.

Again, I liked this part : I get a feeling for the place. There is a
place for variety of course, but there is a lot to look at and enjoy IMO.

General concensus seems to be that its good : although not a fan of true
RPGs I might give it a a go.

So long as they finish it - unlike Boiling Point which was a frustrating
example of how "huge play areas" can bore the tits off you.
