Okay, I'm lost: How do I get the autopilot on a PMDG 737-800 to
direct the aircraft to a VOR station? There's a VOR/LOC mode on the
autopilot, but pressing it doesn't seem to do anything. The COURSE
setting seems to have an effect. I don't see anything that controls
which NAV to follow. I haven't found a clear explanation in the
documentation. Is there one on the Web anywhere? I've been looking
around without success. I presume the PMDG autopilot works just like
the autopilot on a real 737-800, at least for this mode.
Unfortunately, I can't find documentation for that, either.

If you are flying on autopilot with the NAV1 radio tuned to the VOR and the
required course set in the COURSE window, push the VOR LOC button and as you
approach the radial the autopilot should pick this up and alter course
towards it.

For a better and fuller explanation have a look at Fred Clausen's tutorial
for this aircraft available on Avsim, - pmdg_flight_tutorial_v2.zip

The other, even more comprehensive, tutorial for the PMDG 737 by Tim
Metzinger is apparently still available here:
http://www.simradar.com/File/Reference_Material/index.html although at one
point it had been withdrawn for some copywrite reasons, - this one is the
real classic.

Roger.

OK. I'm used to other A/Ps that just turn towards the VOR when you
switch to VOR NAV, although I recall a very early A/P in MSFS that did
as you describe.

Thanks. I managed to download them both.
