Ahoy,
Anyone able to do this easily?
Situation: I have a large expanse of water I'd like to cross. Is there a way
to lay a road/motorway/rail track across it, but not across the water?
Basically, I want to lay a tunnel under the water instead of making a
bridge, is there a (preferably easy) way to do this?
Thanks,
Jason >> Stay informed about: Underwater roading/rail? |

You can't do it with a road. You can do it with rail, with the
addition of a BAT file. Go to www.simtropolis.com and download the
rail-subway transition BAT, and then use that - basically, you connect
the rail into it, then run a subway tunnel to the other side, where
you transition back to rail. It only works for passengers, though, not
freight. And you need the Rush Hour expansion pack - it wn't work with
vanilla SC4.

Yep, that's what I've got (Rush Hour).
So is there no way to do it with a road/avenue/motorway at all? D'Oh

Yes there is, build a steep hill where you want the tunnel. Build all the
road on the hill, if the hill is steep enough it will turn green, this is
the tunnel. Get rid of the hill, you should have an entrance, then water,
then an exit. Sorry if this isn't very clear, I know there's a walkthrough
somewhere, i'll try to find it. >> Stay informed about: Underwater roading/rail? |

If you go to the Simtroplis site mentioned above you find a
"digger" BAT. This will dig a hole which can be used as a tunnel
entrance. >> Stay informed about: Underwater roading/rail? |

Type in setSeaLevel 0 onto the cheat console and all the water
disappears. Now you can build infrastructure like you want under water.
After saving the file and re-opening it, the water-level is like before.
Other new cheats:
RiskyMoney
ShowTime
RenderProp <Property Name> <0|1>
SaveCityQuick
and more than 400 codes are easy to find out by examining the binary
file. >> Stay informed about: Underwater roading/rail? |
