Will I have a better chance of spotting the Sasquatch over seeing
UT2007 in stores? Thoughts?

Oh, and I'm referring to the Sasquatch of lore in the North American
continent, not the over priced Driver made by Nike.

I live in bigfoot country. The people here laugh and wink to each other when
the tourists ask about it. It's one of the best public-relations campaigns
ever put out for attracting media and therefore tourists.
You can draw your own parallels.

If you would like to keep up with the latest info in UT2007, a good
place to watch would be Epic's UT2007 forum:
http://utforums.epicgames.com/forumdisplay.php?f=21

I just checked over there and someone posted a link to a Mark Rein
interview:
http://www.computerandvideogames.com/article.php?id=146248?cid=OTC-RSS...tr=CVG-

Here's a pertinent quote:

***********************************************************************************************************************
UT2007 has been in development for a while now. How is everything
progressing?

Mark Rein: It's coming along pretty well, there's a lot of work to do.
You know, UT is a game that has a lot of content, a lot of levels; it
takes a long time - especially now with next-generation-quality
artwork to get that all done and polished. Plus UT is such an
important franchise to us we really want to take our time and get it
right - that's why we've never really had a release date for this
game, it's just when it's done, which really surprised us when people
wrote 'the game is delayed' - what do you mean the game is delayed?
All we said was that it's not coming this year, that doesn't mean it's
delayed. We confirmed to people; don't save you money for this game
for Christmas because you won't be getting it. Buy Gears of War
(laughs).

***********************************************************************************************************************

So I guess the "2007" in UT2007 actually means something. <g>

Unlike Duke Nukem 4Ever, UT2007 will eventually be available, when
it's done.

And if there's rumors of a release date, at some time, the game was
expected to be released at that time. It might not have been an
official, for public knowledge release date, and was probably a way
too optomistic date.

Actually, here's an idea for game developers: When you determine a
date that you want to release a game by, add two or three years and
publicize that date. When it comes out a year or so early, it makes
you look really good.

Most game developer's budgets are supplied by a separate publisher and
so they don't have the luxury of pushing back release dates. They are
under extreme pressure by the publisher to hit target dates that often
coincide with holiday buying. Epic is one of a small handful of
developers that work with their own money and have the luxury of
saying "when it's done".
