So, I just got a new PC (woo hoo!) and I'm setting up WoW. I forgot
how much I customized my original UI with mods. But, because I'm
always up for trying out new things, what *UI* mods does everybody
recommend? I'm looking for ones that give me a clean interface with
lots of information about my character. I don't do much raiding
lately, so I'm not concerned about that (and CT_RA works well enough).
I currently use CT as my main interface mod. I've heard TitanBar was
decent (but that isn't being developed anymore AFAIK).
Any suggestions, etc?
BTW - I realize none of this will matter for a little while after the
patch is released this Tuesday, but I'm still curious anyway. >> Stay informed about: Your UI Mods |

TitanBar (TitanPanel?) is very nice. Shows you all sorts of good info.
How much gold you have (no need to check your pack or leave open for
this info), how much XP you're gaining, time till leveling, how much
gold per hour you're acquiring, map coordinates, etc. Very informative
addon.
CTRA is nice and you've mentioned that you have it.
BananaBar is good for any grouping where you use the "lucky charms"
symbols for mob management. Makes targetting much quicker.
DamageMeters is a given if you like to keep up with such info.
LootHog is a nice addon if you often act as a master looter and want to
quickly sort out rolls.
Atlas is a good quick reference.
My guild also uses GEM (Guild Event Manager) to setup and coordinate
events (raids, instance runs, whatever) in-game.
I use a lot more than these but this is all that's coming to mind right
now .

Haha, TitanBar vs. TitanPanel - I made a mistake. The reason? I've
been programming all day and I have JMenuBars and JPanels in my
application. Bah!
Thanks for the tips, though. >> Stay informed about: Your UI Mods |

Yes it is. It will be fixed up for the impending changes, so if you love
and like it, you can still use it and update it whenever the new version
comes out.
On the other hand, if you're in a "test addons" mood, have a look at FuBar.

And for much fun, install the "comix" Addon from curse.

Ace2 This is a group of AddOns that replace the likes of TitanBar and CT
Raid, but use a lot less memory. Here's my UI ->
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a199/sue_k/Personal/Captures/Warcraf...himaera
The bar at the top is FuBar, with various plugins to display stuff (FuBar
PerformanceFu, ItemBonusesFu, ExperienceFu (didn't disable from my mage),
RegenFu, Bartender2Fu, MoneyFu, DurabilityFu, Squishy Emergency Monitor and
LocationFu)
My character window is made using Perl, it's quite simple, and nice too.
The healing buttons are GroupButtons, and I have them for my targets too.
(Not an Ace2 mod though)
My raid frames is with PerfectRaid and I LOVE it, it will still be viable in
the patch too, and displays a lot in an easy-to-see way.
My MTTargets (and cooldown monitor you see there) is handled by oRA2, which
is fully compatible with CTRaidAssist and a lot cleaner.
Boss mods is Bigwigs instead of CTRA Boss Mods again
Perfect Targets shows how many people are attacking which mob.
Squishy Emergency Monitor is like CTRA's Emergency Monitor but cleaner and
shows more information.
Bartender2 is my Hotbar mod. Very easy to use (/bar lock unlocks the bars!
Once you know this much, it's easy anyway ) with the Bar2Circled extra to
get the round circles
SW Stats on the right hand side there to show my healing/dmg meters - it's
customisable and VERY accurate, so you can have one display on each button.
You see Healing there, I also have Overhealing, Dmg Done, etc etc.
That's about it. I'm a huge 'clean UI' freak so I thought I would post what
I've found and use as I'm veeeeeery happy with it

I like your action bars. They look very nice and clean. I think I'll
try that
I don't care much for the playerframe and targetframe -- I've removed
mine and replaced it with Drathal's HUD
Nice overall! I'll get some pictures of mine and post it sometimes >> Stay informed about: Your UI Mods |

Ooh, so the healery stuff might be useful too Awesome
Of course, next week, a lot of things will break, but all the AddOns I've
listed are being updated continually so they will not be left behind I'm
sure.
In the patch, Emergency Monitors (eg. Squishy) won't be used anymore etc...
but Perfect Raid, in addition to showing when people's health goes down,
also shows curses/poisons so it seems to be the best alternative (Use
/praid to get the options for that one) Basically, when the patch hits, you
won't be able to use mods that actively change a list of targets in combat -
Perfect Raid has the full list already, but it means Emergency Monitors
won't work.
Have fun! If you have any questions (BTW, Alt + Click to move oRA2 tank
boxes! That's the main one, lol!) about the mods I listed just reply here

Yet more spam!
http://i11.photobucket.com/albums/a199/sue_k/Personal/Captures/Warcraf...himaera
Shows my raid UI a bit more, in particular the MT Targets of oRA2 and
Squishy Emergency Monitor. It's older than the previous screenie - I've
changed from Discord Action Bars to Bartender2 for my hotbars for example,
but does show how (relatively) tidy it all is in a raid. It shows Bigwigs
too - the cast bars (Teleport!) etc are very useful, and incase you were
wondering ElkBuffbar is the blue bars for buffs
I think that's about it, lol!

Duh. I had thrown out CTRA for oRA2 to have a look but could not move those
boxes from the middle of my screen. In the end I went back to CTRA in
frustration Thanks for solving that riddle!
Cheers
Urbin, going back to try oRA2

I avoid "compilation" mods, and just install stand-alone mods for particular
things I need. I consider most ocmpilation mods to be bloatware.
I run a lot of mods, but most of them are to do with raiding, but heres a
few you might want to try out.
Auctioneer - Does a whole lot of stuff related to the auction house. Wll
save you a heap of time when you have to auctiona whole load of junk (and
you should be auctioning your junk and not selling it to vendors, you will
get more money for it that way). When I say junk, I mean whites and greens
that you have no use for. Gray items are still sold to vendors as they are
no use to anyone.
Atlas - probably dont need it yet, but when you start running instances its
nice to have online maps.
CTmailMod - If you use a dedicated character to run your auctions and just
post loot to him, this is handy and saves a lot of time collecting mail.
Gatherer - See where mineral and herbs spawn. If you arnt a miner or
herbalist then this mod isnt any use. I would advise one of them though, as
its a great way to make money.
Minimapcoord - shors coordinates in your minimap and on the main map. Useful
because often locations are given in coordinates (or by people you ask).
Monkeyquest - replacement for the standard quest window, with more bells and
whistles. You can see the actual quest level, rather than just a color
aproxination.
Titanbar - I dnt run this myself, but a lot of people do and it had a lot of
useful features on it.
Scrollingcombattext - Another one that I dont bother with, but a lot of
people like it. >> Stay informed about: Your UI Mods |

I recently moved from CTRA to ora2/BigWigs/ozRaid, and I have to say I
wish I'd done it earlier!
I love the MT/PT displays in ora2 - as a healer I find them much more useful
than the CTRA equivalents.
I've seen a few people talk about PerfectRaid though, so I might have
to check that out as an alternative to ozRaid (which I like, but I'm
always in search of new addons!).

Every time I reply to one of these posts, I think "I know, I'll just
list my most essential addons", but then I realise that I have so
many addons (about 70 at last count...), and most of them are essential!
But, here are the really, really essential ones (hehe) for me:
Healing:
HealingEstimator
HealersAssist
Serenity (priest-specific)
RaidPetHealth
Raid:
ora2
ozRaid
BigWigs Boss Mods
KTM Threat Meter
SWStats
General:
Discord Action Bars
EquipCompare
TrinketMenu
FuBar (and its many extensions) (better than TitanBar IMHO)
Outfitter
Auctioneer
Gatherer
Chatmod
CTMailMod
EngInventory
MyBank
DoTimers
eCastBar
elkBuffBar
GetOffGetGoing
And I'm sure I'll think of a dozen more as soon as I hit the send
button...
All that worries me now is the 2.0 update - how will I cope until all
my essential addons have been updated to work with the new patch?
