Exclusive Video: Lockheed U-2S "Dragon Lady" Cockpit Tour

By Glenn Pew, Video Editor

The Lockheed U-2 has been in service for over 50 years. It's been at the
centre of some of the most tense moments in America's history. AVweb's
Glenn Pew takes you inside the cockpit on a guided tour with an active U-2
pilot.

Geez, 6 knots between overspeed and stall above 50,000 ft! No wonder they
let the autopilot fly the aircraft above FL500. Incredible.

Thanks for posting Nick. Brought back a lot of old memories. I was
assigned to a U-2 outfit for six years back in the mid '60's. Worked
in avionics maintenance. The glass cockpit featured here is a little
more modern than what we had back then!

Yeah noticed that too, you really have to plan your mission, and read the
weather charts carefully, before going up there Surprised/

I'm on my second round the world trip in the FS9 Virgin Global Flyer, and
above FL300 it's almost as bad, 40kts between over speed and stall, making
every wind change a potential crash Surprised/
