4 Frostfall
We decided to spend the day resting in Maar Gan. I paid one of the
locals to train Julan some in long blade, and I paid Bednor Rialthi
(at the smiths) to train me more in fletching. He also trains people
in smithing and mining. By nightfall, I had gotten my fletching
skills up to 22--which more or less means I don't cut myself when
trimming arrow shafts. Very often.
We spent another night at the Andus Tradehouse.
5 Frostfall
With the dawn, we Almsiviied to Ald-ruhn. Tuls Valen was pleased with
my handling of the Dremora Anheadra. He made me an acolyte of the
Temple. He also said he had another task for me, but that I was not
yet ready. As only ordinary fog filled the morning air, we decided to
walk southwards. As we had already killed everything that moved a few
days ago, we expected the trail to be relatively peaceful. It was
peaceful--until we passed the turn off to Maar Gan. I mostly did some
bow work and tried to cast soul trap before Constance and Julan killed
things.
On the road to Caldera, we stopped to see the witch. She offered to
teach me more Tisanes if I helped out a friend of hers. We also
decided to escore Pemenie to Gnar Mok. She gave me her Boots of
Blinding Speed as a reward. Stupid boots.
As long as we were in Gnaar Mok, I stopped by Nadene Rotheran's shack
to talk to Daren Adryn about leaving Ahnassi alone. He didn't seem to
want to talk--everyone in the shack attacked us. These Camona Tong
are crazy. Then we went to pick up that limeware bowl that had been
stolen from the chapel. As I paid my fine for getting caught picking
locks, I once again realized that I am not really well versed in
thiefcraft.
There was a craft merchant on the docks--one karum Bok--who seemed to
sell a little bit of everything. I bought a sewing kit, though I
thought I might have already bought one and left it at my Dome Home.
At the Druegh-jigger's Rest, I met a scout--Balan--who could take me
to places along the Bitter Coast. Balan also trained Julan in long
blade.
Several locals were complaining about the pair of breeding netches
that were attacking the villagers. So we went over and dispatched
them. I captured both souls and got some netch acid. That took until
dark. We spent a long night in Nadene's shack. Fortunately the
bodies had not started to smell.
6 Frostfall
The morning was filled with a soft and gentle rain. We headed south
to Hla Oad and beyond. I ran out of little soul gems for the rats and
cliff racers and nix hounds we encountered. Hla Oad was small...just
a few shacks. On the way to Seyda Neen we found a Bosmer, Fagrath,
comatose on the trail. We could not rouse him. I left him a candle
and some mushrooms to eat. We killed the footpads lurking nearby, so
maybe he will wake up alive.
The candles were glowing in the windows when we reached Seyda Neen.
We sold some goods, then moved on to Haldenshore to sell more. I'd
intended to stay there for the night. But Zerdon said there was a
thief in trouble in Pelegiad, so we ended up running through the
twilight to the Halfway Tavern. By the time we'd taken care of
business, it was quite late. We just Almisiviied to Balmora and spent
the night in the Dome Home.
7 Frostfall
I decided it was time to track down those Dark Brotherhood assassins
who'd come after me. We guilded to Vivec, ran some small errands,
bought some nice arrows and candles, then Almsiviid to Ebonheart,
where we could get transport to Mournhold. I sent Julan back to
Ald'ruhn and Constance to Mournhold ahead of me. But when I got to
Mournhold, I found Julan waiting, too.
One of the High Ordinators said the Dark Brotherhood were rumored to
live in the sewers under the Great Bazaar. That sounded like a very
strange place to live. But I went to the Great Bazaar anyway. And
promptly managed to find an assassin who attacked me. But one of the
wrong guild. He was Morag Tong, and had mistaken me for an actor.
Sigh. How often does one go looking for an assassin, find an assassin
and have it be the wrong assassin!?!
We decided to check out the rest of the shops. There was a craft
trainer, Ingli, at the dressmakers who told me that I might be able to
find a smlter at the Tanners and Miners Hall in Vivec. I trained a
little in cooking. She also teaches crafting and sewing. But after a
few lessons, it was quite late and we were all exhausted and still had
no place to sleep. So we left.
We were attacked by a wizard, one Velas. I decided that his house
might provide a decent place to sleep. That seemed less of a good
idea when we found Velas' brother in the house. But I had more
healing potions, so we were the ones who survived the fight.
8 Frostfall.
In the morning, we went into the sewers beneath the Great Bazaar,
seeking the Dark Brotherhood. At first, all we found were Ancestral
Ghosts, Bonelords and Zombie Archers, so I thought we'd been mislead.
Eventually, we found the assassins, however. After getting five new
sets of armor--plus the souls of some of the undead--we were
exhausted. So we headed back up topside to sell our booty and rest.
I have Constance and Julan a set of armour--less those noxious-looking
helms--and sold the rest of the armor to Bols in the Craftsman's Hall
and some of the soul gems to the enchanter-whose-name-I-forget-at-the-
moment. Then we went back to Velas Manor to sleep. The body hasn't
started to smell yet. >> Stay informed about: Twilight Magnolia part 6 |
