11 Heartfire
As I started to leave Ald'Ruhn, I remembered that I needed to replace
my horde of healing potions. The Mage Guild alchemist didn't have any
decent ones. I decided to spend the day training in alchemy so that,
some day, I can make my onw. I also had Julan trained a bit more. At
least now I can recognize a bit about ingredients and understand how
to use a mortar and pestle.
12 Heartfire
I used a scroll to cast Mark at the Temple before I left. I also
picked up another task, this one in Suran. Valeria wanted a seed
planted in Suran. So I decided to go. After my recent experience
with fast travel, I decided to walk--despite the ash storm that was
turning the morning a dull red with a bitter ash.
Julan, by the way, does NOT understand the words 'stay behind me'. I
finally resorted to casting soultrap-arrow to have some chance at
catching a soul before Julan and Constance killed whatever was
attacking us.
Along the Caldera road, I met the Widow Fedaris. She gave me an
interesting walking stick. I also met that witch who makes Tisanes.
She says she will teach me some if I bring her some books. Once I got
to Caldera, I did some shopping and found the books she wanted.
Though it was quite late and pouring rain, I took the books back to
her. Except for getting turned around in the dark a few times and
being attacked by some kind of tarantula creature, things went ok. I
spent the night at Surane leoriane's house.
13 Heartfire.
When we got back to Balmora, Julan decided to let me advise him on
getting better arms and armor. He does look good in bonemold. Quite
handsome, actually. After shopping for a while, we headed south
towards Suran. Except for being attacked by mabragish and zombies and
bounty hunter-Tul-, the trip was uneventful.
14 Heartfire.
Suran did not look any more familiar than Balmora or Caldera. I found
a few potions, but not enough to replenish those we'd expended in
fighting getting to Suran. So after looking around the town, we went
to the silt strider to head back to Balmora to buy more potions. On a
whim, I told the driver to take us to Molag Mar instead.
15 Heartfire
Molag Mar is a smallish canton out on the coast in the middle of
nowhere. Pilgrims stop there. I don't know if anyone else does. I
did get a steel bow for Julan and a task at the Temple to heal someone
named Lette in someplace called Tel Mora. I'd about felt we'd wasted
the trip when I encountered a wood elf named Skanro Vitarri. He knew
a few crafts, and I paid him good gold to train me for a day or so in
the art of fletching. Now, if I could only recall where I'd seen some
fletcher's kit.
16 Heartfire
It was past noon when I woke up. A blight storm raged outside. So we
took sail to someplace called Tel Branora. It was a short trip, thank
the gods. I can most definitely say that Tels are not places I am
familiar to. These villages are inside of plants grown up tall by
wizards. Those plants are bothersome strange. Eerie. I sold a few
rat souls and bought quite a few empty soul gems. Those plant
buildings made me uneasy, so we got on the ship and sailed to Sadrith
Mora.
If there is something more unsettling than plant houses, it is plant
houses in the dark. I was so glad to see the candle lit windows of
Muriel's Corner Club that I sighed aloud. Alas, they had no rooms for
rent. I picked up a guild job from Big Helende, and decided to go to
Wolverine Hall and find the mage's guild and go home to Balmora for
the rest of the night.
17 Heartfire
Balmora is beginning to feel comfortable. We spent a restful night
under the watchful eye of the Mages Guild. I left some stuff at the
Dome Home, and made good use of my new pot boilding up corn and
preparing assorted soups. I left the pot there though, as I am
waddling under a load of healing potions and next to useless items
that do not, at the moment, include a fletcher's kit. Clagius had
jewelers kits and woodworking kits, but no fletching kits. Sigh.
Outside Wolverine Hall I met Ignatius Parensum, who offered to train
me in fletching, smithng or mining. I declined. First I want to find
a blasted fletcher's kit. To my surprise, Elegal had both a fletchers
kit and a bag of assorted crafting supplies. I bought both. Hmm, now
I need an ash log for some arrow shafts.
I also found an interesting scrap of ancient paper. What in Tamriel
is an 'extractor'?
Sigh, life gets more complicated every day.
18 Heartfire
Thanks to Constance, I spent the night in jail. My enchantment skill
dropped from 7 to 6. Then I had to go FIND Constance and Julan. By
the time that was done and I had assembled an ash log and racer plumes
and made 20 dinky arrows, I was done in.
19 Heartfire
I bought the jewelers kit, sewing kit and woodworking kit from Clagius
and put them with the fletchers kit and crafting kit in my Dome Home.
I decided to go into the ashlands on Ranis quest for the Mages Guild
as I hoped to find more cliff racers and so more plumes to use for
fletching. Well, I did find cliff racers. Along with ash storms that
turned the world red with a bitter dust, kagouti, cliff racers, alit,
cliff racers, rats and cliff racers. And got two plumes for all my
trouble. After completing the errands, we Alsmivied and ended up in
Ald-ruhn. Where I decided to see if I could find more crafting items
or teachers. Or maybe find out what an 'extractor' is.
Tirus Sadus had a fletching kit and sewing kit (which I do not need)
and leather and resin tools--which I also do not really need but
bought anyway. I took the kit back to Balmora. Where I ran into a
group of footpads. Upon which I decided that carrying my weight in
healing potions was not really that cumbersome at all.
