Is it me, or are the only good strategy game releases just expansions
(ie. Beyond the Sword)? Any good 2007 TBS games?

I'm not sure it's really good but "Fantasy Wars" is a turn based wargame
: pretty and simple (in its rules) and (for me) challenging.

Galactic Assault is OK game but nothing to write home about, ie.
spectacular. I finished campaign.

Heroes 5 expansion is OK as I've heard.

Triumph Studios should return to turn based games and make Age of Wonders 3
and leave makin arcade RPG to Playstation horde of developers (like those
guys who did Folklore, wow PS3 has cool graphics, where is Koei to make
another ROTK or PTO game with that graphics Smile

On topic, maybe there is some other games but... Maybe Jagged Alliance 3
would turn out to be great game, soldiers looks amazing Smile (that is 2008
release I think)

I know its not really a 2007 game but Im still playing Dominions 3.
In fact they just came out with another "patch" that added 2 more nations.
What's that now? 6 or 7 nations added since Dom3's release? Up to 70
playable nations now? Plus hundreds more monsters, hundreds more magic
sites, etc. And thats not counting what the player mods are offering. And
still no game-killer strategies for it. Definetly long-lifed TBS game.

And didnt GalCiv just release a new version or upgrade or something?

this is how gamespy research their editorials? "hey guys, tell me what
the best games are!"

and people wonder why i'm critical of the gaming media.

Played only a demo. Some say that Fantasy General is spiritual ancestor to
this game.
Another game - nothing to write home about Smile
Some like it very much.

Without doubt a gaming media that does a feature about "what the best games
are according to guys", and then totally makes up the answers, would deserve
more plause.

If Jonah really did write for a gaming site his articles would not be
much fun to read, consisting as they would of half a sentence and a
single link.

Galactic Assault is a new game from the people that made Massive
Assault. It features TB sci-fi combat at the platoon level or so,
check out the demo. Gameplay is sort of Massive Assault mated with
Panzer General.

UFO: Extraterrestrials. I liked it, anyway.

Fantasy Wars, and there should be a whole flock of TBS from the same
publisher. Including a new Kings Bounty

Pretty Soldier something or other AD. A tentacle hentai game combined with
X-com. $20, so I tried it. Not very long, but not that bad.

If you have a handheld, then there is the upcoming Warhammer 40K game for
the DS/PSP. There's a PSP demo which is very very nice. Somewhat more
primitive than X-com in terms of your squad, but plays very much like the
original Laser Squard or Breach games, complete with destructable scenary.

Hey, Fantasy Wars appears to be out now. Anyone tried it? None of
the game sites have reviews yet.
