Dang, didn't realize anyone was actually running FSX in DX10 preview mode.
I tried it a couple of times, and realized it was pretty much broken, so I
unchecked it fairly quickly.

Glad to hear you figured it out. Maybe they'll get DX10 implementation right
in the next version. ( they do pretty much tell us it is not quite there
with the preview statement).

I think their original plans, were to have full DX10 implementation in FSX,
for whatever reason they seemed to get so far and then scrap it, guess they
decided to wait for the next version to have full DX10.

It is far too broken for me , in FSX, to run in DX10 preview mode.

Incredibly ironic considering the run up to the FSX launch included massive
DX10 hype.

Everyone, including myself, bemoaned the upcoming forced switch to DX10
hardware and Vista.

I fought for days trying to get one of my favorite craft to load in
Vista/FSX. I just couldn't get the textures to show no matter what I
did. Just on a hunch, I disabled DX10 and viola! the craft was fine.
Very weird indeed. Also the AA is much better without the DX10. The
Anti Aliasing is pitiful with it turned on.

Samer here with a GeForce 9800 GT2. With the old 174.74 FSX ran in DX10
preview mode, however not capable of multi monitor driving. Now with the
175.16 it doesn't even start properly with DX10 preview mode enabled. Well,
as a consequence DX10 remains off for the rest of the decade..... or until
someone (MS, NVIDIA, ....... list may expanded at anybody's discretion....)
stop blaming each other and start with what would be their real task: make
their products useable ......
