I wonder if that's "Lost Colony"?
If it is then be warned that the game has had a somewhat chequered
development so far with players being asked to stump up cash for
pre-orders at the end of 2006 and earlier this year, with blatantly
broken and impossible to fulfil promises of an early 2007 release.
All paying customers actually got was access to some very basic alpha
quality stuff consisting of one "base" and a few very basic weapons
and skins that were bought from a 3rd party.
That was some time back and things may have changed since then. But at
the time there was a lot of fuss about it despite some pretty nimble
PR and side-stepping by the "lead developer" who was going by the name
of "SoS" if I remember correctly.
More than a few people believed they were paying for a finished MMO
product that they could play in the early part of 2007. Quite a few of
those people fell for the "spin" despite the more astute people in the
gaming community pointing out that it was impossible to create an MMO
in a few short weeks.
In reality, the people that pre-ordered the game in 2006 were actually
funding the development of the game, rather than purchasing a usable
product.

The game now has a 2008 release date which is almost 2 years after the
first announced and subsequently missed numerous release dates that
followed.
