I've been doing a lot of intensive flying in the eastern
hemisphere....Europe and Oceana regions and have noticed the AI
aircraft at the airports is very, very good (I'm using FSX).

In the past, I've been a bit hard on JustFlight's program 'Traffic'
because I FIND THAT it really isn't all that special in North
America. However, it is really good in the eastern half of the world,
with a great variety of aircraft to look at when arriving at the major
airports. This may be because the program is written in England and
perhaps they tend to favour that half of the world. I don't
know....merely guessing.

JustFlight is coming out with a new program named TrafficX sometime in
the future which is supposed to be quite spectacular according to
them. Once again, I've noticed the traffic apparently favours
European models, but I still recommend it be considered by everyone.
I know each of us has his/her own personal preferences and that's
okay, of course.

I would suggest JustFlight puts more effort into the western
hemisphere and might be doing so with TrafficX. I guess we'll see
when it comes out.

The reason for this post is not just to recommend JustFlight's AI
program for FSX, but because I have been just a bit too harsh on them
in the past, and they are a good software company.

Are you talking about FS9 or FSX when you say 'pretty awful in
Oceana'? I am flying low and slow, touring New Zealand and parts of
Australia and the scenery seems pretty good using FSX. I am comparing
what I am seeing to an atlas and it seems to jive as far as the
topography goes. I suppose if you live there, the scenery would
likely fall short of realistic.

I will likely be exploring Perth sometime next week, but I think I can
safely say I will find the scenery just fine....and the reason for
this is because other than postcard pics, I haven't really seen the
city. In addition, I must agree with you that at $70 simulator is not
going to do justice to all the beautiful cities of the world.
However, it does try to emulate them sufficiently to make someone with
an imagination appreciate the scenery.

I live in Toronto, Canada and I have explored it with FSX. The
program has left out some very key landmarks, but has included some
others. I know this because I live here. I'm not naive enough to
believe this sim will duplicate even the most major cities so that you
can find your house in the city you live, but what the hell, it's not
a map....just a lot of fun. Just sit back in the left seat and
enjoy...

Try Perth, Arthur, in FS9 it was appalling, if FSX just plain bad. But I
acknowledge that they can't cover all cities in the world. PC Aviator did a
super Perth Scenery for FS '95, it worked with newer ones too but I doubt it
will with FSX. It is a very detailed and accureate implementation and I
believe was used by airlines for simulation training.
