My top five:
IL2/FB/Pacific Fighters
Falcon 4 Allied Force + Stopworks Pits + HiTiles or Open Falcon + HiTiles
Lock On
Microsoft Flight Simulator 2004 but only with lots of scenery and aircraft
addons
XPlane (
Longbow 2 doesn't quite make my cut, nor does Battle of Britain II because
of the bugs, nor do the older but good ones like F-22, EAW, and of the Janes
sims just because they are lacking in the graphics department and I don't
spend time on them anymore.
> Were their even more then a handful released though?
The top five provide more than enough flight-simming at the moment for me to
handle.

I was looking at the latest X-Plane at their website. That sucker takes
uup 60gb of HDD space! That has to be the biggest footprint of any game

To be fair, most of that is taken up by fancy sceneries and mesh. Compare
that with a similarily endowed FS9 and 60GB is not so bad.
My FS9 comes in at 48Gb with Mesh added and N American fancy scenery -
could be a lot more with little effort. Also bear in mind both these items
are simulations where the entire globe is represented, not restricted to a
small area of the world. Given the size of HD's these days, these large
programs are no big deal. My first HD was 40 Mb !! and would not handle
some of the d/l's we have nowadays.

I've got 460gb of HDD space but there is no way I would give up 60gb of
that for any one game. >> Stay informed about: Top flgiht-sims |

Don't understand your logic here, if the space is there and doing nothing,
use it - makes no diff to the computer. Otherwise you are just missing out
on a while load of fun.

The logic is that if I allowed games to use 60gb of space then I would
soon have no space. No game is worth 60gb. I have a 5.x version of X-Plane
and it wasn't long before it was incompatible with my video drivers and I
didn't care for it all that much anyway. Terrible GUI. >> Stay informed about: Top flgiht-sims |

True, but that assumes that you continue to buy more and more games.
I have only five games on my machine: Sim City, The Sims 2, two chess
games, and Flight Simulator. The Sims 2 and Flight Simulator chew up
a lot of space, especially the latter; the other three don't require
much space. I'm not buying anything else in the foreseeable future,
and I still have the majority of the drive empty.

Flight Simulator has the advantage of causing the least problems of
all simulation games, although if you start adding things stability
declines rapidly.

I've got too many games and even with 620gb over two computers I can fill
that up with just games if I choose to. >> Stay informed about: Top flgiht-sims |
