I don't have any real interest in the movie 300, but I thought I'd try and
download anyway from the Xbox Marketplace when it was only 100 points at the
end of last month. The points were deducted immediately but I have been
unable to start the download, instead I get a message saying I'm unable to
download media usage rights with the error code 80004005.
I tried again this evening with no success and so I decided to ring customer
support and the result of nearly an hour on the phone is that I'll never, for
some unexplainable reason, ever be able to download the movie on my
particular 360, so I should just go and watch it at a friend's house!

Sounds about right. I downloaded Zodiac, but it never showed in my
video list. Rang MS and they told me to delete it and try again 'in a
couple of days'. Which I did, and it appeared in my video list. Only
to stop playing about half an hour before the end, which in a thriller
is just a trifle irritating.
Rang MS again, after talking to a first-line support droid who didn't
actually know that you could pay for time-limited rentals I was put
through to the "supervisors department". Who promply told me their
systems were down and they'd have to ring me back tomorrow because they
couldn't see the ticket.
Tomorrow comes and I get bored and ring again, and this time the first
line support person is much more helpful. Five minutes later I've got a
full refund and profuse apologies. I guess the moral is it's all down
to the individual employee - some are good, some are pants.
At least it's an 0800 number. If I have a problem with my PS3 I've got
to pay 10p per minute for the pleasure of telling Sony they've screwed
up, the cheapskates.

Ultimately yes, but that kind of defeats of the object. I still can't
download the movie, or possibly any other movies, and even if I could I'd
have the pay the full price now rather than offer price I should have had it
for. This offer aside, I could never have seen me using the video download
service. After this shambles my not ever using it is an absolute certainty.

Same here. I was looking forward to the marketplace but after my first
experience I cannot see me rushing to use it again, unless they have some
amazing must-watch film on there. >> Stay informed about: Top class customer service from MS |

must admit, i'm the same.
i was planning to try the 100pt download, to see what the system was
like.
i mean, i don't mind paying 3 quid or so to watch a film in HD every
now and then.
but the fact that at first, they only reduced the SD version, then
when they finally sorted the HD version so it was 100pts, i couldn't
even connect to Live, never mind try to download anything pissed me
right off.
video marketplace can go kiss my arse frankly, after that. >> Stay informed about: Top class customer service from MS |

a side not, i know, but you are aware that Zodiac, as it's based on
reality, is a thriller which doesnt really have a conclusion?

I saw several documentaries about the Zodiac killer a few months ago so
thought I would see how the film shaped up. The film did miss out on some
inportant stuff, not important as to who it may have been, but just general
information about the killer themselves. It was a good film, but I feel
these omissions were important to the storyline. >> Stay informed about: Top class customer service from MS |

Not much longer. 7 minutes. Winging its way to me as we speak.
I loved the film and the way it doesn't sensationalise the incidents.
It's more about what it does to the people who look for the killer than
about the killings themselves.

Well the film was already 2.5hrs long. While I probably could enjoy a
longer one, at some point it detracts from its rewatchability.
The dvd(s) has a few documentaries on it too that look pretty thorough.

Hmm 7 minutes is just enough to show them working out the target symbol.
