I think there's possible confusion now about what James has, and I
foresee much confusion in the future as people ask other questions.
Comcast has now released TiVo software running on their Motorola boxes
in the Boston area. The UI is much the same as normal TiVo for those
things it offers, but the capabilities are quite different.
So people need to distinguish between running TiVo on a TiVo
manufactured box connecting to Comcast HD, and running TiVo on a
Comcast (Motorola only for now) manufactured box connecting to Comcast
HD.
If James is running TiVo on a Comcast manufactured box (his statement
is ambiguous), then at the moment there is no connectivity to a home
network. Comcast says that ability will come in the future, but it's
not clear whether it will be TiVo's home networking, or a Comcast
subset that will probably not be interoperable at all with TiVo
manufactured boxes.
