It seems like every show my Tivo records is cut off by about a minute
at the end. I'm wondering, is it possible that Tivo's clock may be off
a little bit? If so, is it possible to reset it somehow? I would rather
not reset all of my recordings to record an extra minute at the end,
there's too many and stuff seems to be starting on time, so I'm afraid
stuff will end up getting clipped at the beginning.

Thanks in advance,
Jen

I just spoke with Tivo about this issue. Customer service told me that
it's a known problem and that in 5-7 days my Tivo will download a
software update that "spaces out the hard drive" to fix this problem. I
have to admit, I don't understand what this update does or how it fixes
the problem. Anyone?

Ooooo... I want my hard drive to be spacey too, how do I get it? Smile

But I've noticed this problem too. I miss all of the Daily Show
moments of zen because of this.

Another one, start playing any recording (Series 2, at low quality,
if that makes any difference), and it all looks normal. But then
reverse at the highest speed after it has played for a little bit,
and when you get back to the very beginning you may see unrelated
material stuck before the beginning of the regular recording, the
reverse over-runs the beginning of the recording. Not critical.

More so:

And, now and then, it just responds more and more slowly to remote
buttons, finally stops responding completely, crashes, reboots.

And then there is the GI dtc2244 failure to change channels now
and then, despite trying all the various supposed fixes on the
tivo website for this model. I'm almost to the point of getting
a digital scope, capturing the cable ir codes, capturing the
tivo ir codes, and seeing where these are different. It can't
be that hard to figure this one out.

That's not the same issue. The "Moments of Zen" regularly run long,
I've seen that for a long time. Just pad the show by a minute, problem
solved. The OP's problem was that the Tivo was off, not the show.

I'd call it more of an easter egg. You found a way to force it past the
beginning of show marker.

That sounds like a harddrive problem.

They *do* do it automatically. Every schedule update also includes a
clock set. The OP may *not* have been getting the runaround, there may
be some software fix that applies to his system to fix whatever his
clock problem is. It does sound like the support person had no clue how
to describe the problem, it's probably just some sort of bug fix.

If I had to speculate on a possible explanation, perhaps his Tivo is
recording (or playing back?) at a slightly too slow speed, which pushes
the end of the show past the ending time. This could yield some strange
explanation regarding "spacing the hard drive out" to capture the
slightly long recording, as odd as that sounds.

There was a new "feature" announced a few months ago that gave one the choice
of screwing up either one or two programs. (Well, . . . )

Messages & Settings --> Settings --> Recording --> Overlap Protection

If Overlap "Protection" is sey to "yes", it can - sometimes - cause exactly
what appears to be your problem.

I became aware of it when my Spousal Unit started getting agitated because
her 147 tapings per day of "Law and Order, SUV" were all missing the last
minute. [I told her that the cops won which lost me my "Nice Guy" award for
the week - you betcha!]

I'll see you that and raise you 75 tapings a day of home makeover
and 75 tapings a day of by buying and remodeling a house.

Watching endless episodes of this stuff does things to their minds,
and it isn't good!

Maybe I never should have brought a TIVO home....
