See? That's what they don't see. Whoever wants to pirate the game will
do it in a matter of days, yet they're losing a lot of potential
customers with these stupid invasive protection systems that interfere
with other things you may use in your computer. >> Stay informed about: Titan's Quest is out...sorta... |

Nobody has been able to get it to work yet. I didn't feel bad trying
though since I already have it preordered through Amazon. <g> >> Stay informed about: Titan's Quest is out...sorta... |

Or non-invasive ones that interfere with your disposal of a
legitimately-purchased game after you have finished playing it --
such as Steam.

Some of us will not buy games with securom (I accept steam but I can not
accept a game which is installing software without my knowledge).
I will never again buy games from ascaron because of the totally bugged
sacred.
But will they - the company's - notice this? Will there be a change?
Deep in my heart I hope that this refusal will change something but I'm
afraid that there will be no change in the behaviour publishers. >> Stay informed about: Titan's Quest is out...sorta... |

They'll notice - and they'll blame the continued decline of sales on
priracy and come up with ever-more-elaborate ways to piss off the
honest customers. >> Stay informed about: Titan's Quest is out...sorta... |

My suggestion -- write them a (politely-worded) letter, simply stating
that you were looking forward to this product, would have purchased it,
but will not because of the invasive copy protection. Software companies
lack visibility into how many sales they lose from this; make it more
salient to them.

It's likely that the majority of those of us here are relatively long in the
tooth (some a fair bit longer than others, hehe), the youngsters evidently
mostly deserting usenet in favor of webforums.

I've often wondered what machine some of those games were developed on. I
specifically remember Strike Commander regularly choking out a hoss of a new
rig I bought several years after the game's release. There's no way some of
those game's maximum graphics configurations could ever have been tested on
anything available at the time they were being developed, I don't think.

You are one VERY lucky man to have such a gaming wife.
And may I have your permission to contact your wife and discuss how she
got past the three statues at Hell level with each character in the last
level of LOD? >> Stay informed about: Titan's Quest is out...sorta... |

Or in my case
1) Look at Titan's Quest box
2) Realize it's just a D2 clone
3) Remember D2 bored me to hell after the 293929919 click
4) Return box to stand
5) Keep playing HOMM5

Suggestion to everyone whining about Securom:
1) Buy Titan Quest.
2) Install Titan Quest.
3) Go to GameCopyWorld.com and download the no-DVD patch now available.
4) Replace game executable with new one.
5) Play game without Securom or DVD.
6) Everybody happy. >> Stay informed about: Titan's Quest is out...sorta... |

It's a shame that evidently a lot of people, maybe most even, never realized
setting many attacks up for the right mouse button in D2 allows click and
hold instead of constant clicking. You don't even have to lift, once an
attack's initiated, even to retarget an enemy in many cases.
Or maybe you're confusing D2 with Diablo(1), where constant clicking
couldn't be avoided.

Securom installs device drivers?? Can you post a link please - what am
I looking for and how do I get rid of them? I have a couple of other
Securom games (SW:EAW I think), but they don't install any drivers as
far as I'm aware.
