Post subject: Thrustmaster gear and usb game port adapter questions
Archived from groups: comp>sys>ibm>pc>games>flight-sim (more info?)

Hi all,

I have a couple questions about the Rockfire USB game port adapter I was
wondering if someone could help me with.

I recently purchased one of the USB game port adapters for my old game port
gear. The site had it listed as a Rockfire but what I got sent was a
Manhattan adapter. They both appear identical in every way from pictures
except one has "Rockfire" printed on it and the other "Manhattan."

My question is this: Does the Rockfire also disable the rudders in modes 1,
3, and 4? The Manhattan booklet specifically states that its adapter does.

If I use my Thrustmaster Top gun stick with my Thrustmaster rudders (Going
to have a TQS also soon) in Mode 1 everything works except I don't have a
range for a throttle under the properties in game controllers under XP. If I
go to mode 2 I have a throttle and rudder range but my hat now controls the
throttle. I can use my CH Flightstick pro with the Thrustmaster RCS and the
hat works normally in mode 2 but I prefer the Top gun stick. Mode 3 is stick
with throttle and rudder but no hat spot at all. I was wondering if the
Rockfire also did this because I was thinking of sending the Manhattan
adapter back if it doesn't. I suppose if all else fails I could buy another
adapter and have one for the stick and TQS and another for the rudders
though.

Thanks,
Sean

No idea... Best bet would be to get a soundcard with a gameport adapter...
Audigy 2 has one, there's a phillips that has one as well.

That's what I use with my digital F22 setup

I have a gameport. I'm just trying to get it all working through USB.

I don't think the Audigy's game post is supported in Vista.
