Post subject: Tech: P.O.W. Problem

Hello there, I have a problem with my 1988 SNK P.O.W. coin op game. When I turn the power switch on the marquee lights up and the monitor comes on but without picture or sound. I have located and checked 2 fuses inside the cabinet and both are working. As far as I can tell it seems the board is not getting power. (there are 2 little red indicator lights on the board that currently do not light up while the games power is on.) If anyone has some information or any suggestions about what to do, they would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Squish.

Sounds like a power supply issue. Does it use a linear with a big heavy
transformer, or is it new enough to have a switcher? If it's a switcher,
it's easier to just replace the power supply.

Definitely sounds like a power supply issue.

Check the voltage arriving at the edge connector of the board with a
multimeter and verify you are getting the +12 and +5 volts.

The board will boot without the +5, but you definitely need both for it to
function correctly.

Cheers,

Mike
