I bought a supposedly 100% working AD board from the NG, but when I got
it, it had some problems. Here is what I am up against:

1) When you start a game, your remaining ships (which are supposed to
be in a row on the top/left of the screen) are stacked on top of each
other, offset by about 1/4 of an inch to the right and 1/4 of an inch
down, so they are in a diagonal row.

2) When you go to enter your high score, the letters do not look like
letters. They look like heiroglyphics. Maybe i have an Egyptian
version? Smile

3) The big asteroids rotate, but as they rotate, they become a bit
jumbled. When they're in one position, they look fine. As they rotate,
they get garbled. Then, when they're back to the starting position,
they're fine again. Repeat.

4) The big UFO has the horrizontal line offset to the left by about 1
inch. The shots come from that line, and you can onyl destroy the UFO
by shooting the line. You can shoot the actual body of the UFO without
blowing it up. You can fly through it as well, but if you hit the
offset horriz. line, you die.

Test mode looks normal, except for the diagonal row of ships, same as
when you start a game. Everything else operates as normal.

Any help is appreciated.

Brian

Question for the group:

What part of the shipping process could have caused this type of issue?
This board was very well packaged and from my understanding the
packaging was not damaged during shipping.

Hey Brian. If this is indeed a board problem, be sure to let me know. As
I stated in our private email, the board was fully tested and working
just prior to packaging and shipping it to you. I played the game for a
bit and did not notice problems. Let me know if one of the not working
boards I have will help with parts.

I usually attribute stuff like this (board works in one cab, not in
another) to differences in power supply, harness, etc.

Brian, are you sure you're using the right version ARII and did you
check the voltages at a few different points on the boardset?

maybe nothing to do with shipping juts bad luck. One of the chips decided
it was it's turn to act up.

Sounds like a fun one to fix Sad

I am positive about the voltages. It is the correct ARII board, as all
of the serials match the cabinet. I'm going to try to post some pics of
it (or maybe a video) if i get a chance.

If it is a chip or socket or some swappable part what could it be? I do
have two other board that could be used for parts to fit if needed. Let
me know and I'll send off some parts.

Aaron.
